For the purpose of this vacancy, internal and internal-equivalent candidates are considered as first-tier candidates. /ph3Organizational Context and Scope /h3pUnder the general supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta and Representative to the Holy See, the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will perform the duties listed below as Project Assistant, Protection. /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliAssist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. /liliRetrieve, compile, summarise, and present information/data on specific project topics. /liliMonitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information. /liliSupport administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc. /liliDraft status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of supervisor. /liliDraft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation. /liliOrganise meetings, workshops and training sessions.
/liliRespond to general information requests and inquiries. Set up and maintain files/records. /liliPerform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned. /li /ulh3Qualifications /h3h3Required Qualifications and Experience /h3h3Education /h3ulliBachelor’s degree in Social Works, International Relations, Psycology or a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, /liliHigh School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience. /li /ulpAccredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. /ph3Experience /h3ulliExperience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations; /liliExperience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and, /liliPrior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. /liliExperience in working with vulnerable groups. /li /ulh3Skills /h3ulliKnowledge of migration related areas dealt with by the Organization. /liliFamiliarity with the migration context in Italy and with movement-related operations is considered an asset. /li /ulh3Languages /h3pAll IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). /ppFor this position, fluency in bItalian /b and bEnglish /b is required (oral and written). /ppWorking knowledge of French is an asset. /ppProficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. /ph3Required Competencies /h3pIOM’s competency framework can be found at this link .
