Responsibilities include assisting with the patient care management, executes administrative and clinical procedures and performs supervisory functions pertaining to position. Competency requires that the medical assistant adheres to ethical and legal standards of professional practice, recognize and respond to emergencies and demonstrates professional characteristics. /pulliObtains and documents vital signs and lab work. /liliPrepare patients for examination /liliEnter lab and imaging orders under the supervision of a clinical provider. /liliCollect and prepare laboratory specimens /liliLabels and completes lab requisitions, including ICD and CPT coding. Sends specimens to lab per patient’s insurance plan. /liliUpdate patient medical records. /liliAnswer phones. /liliSchedule appointments /liliRemoving sutures and dressings (as it applies per specialty) /liliChaperone clinician during patient visits as needed. /liliCompletes timely and accurate documentation of patient visits.
/liliPerforms reconcilliation of labs and orders and independently follows-up on overdue pending results. /liliPerforms all duties within HIPAA regulations. /liliProcess prescriptions and orders as directed by provider. /liliStocks rooms and reorders supplies. Ensures supplies are received as ordered. Follows up on incomplete or inaccurate orders. /liliSterilizes instruments in accordance with OSHA requirements. /liliPerforms patient education as directed and within your scope of practice. Communicates under clinical supervision, medical results to patients.
