Instrumentation engineer is responsible for activities related to its discipline within a project. He/She as part of a group of automation engineers assigned to the project, prepare deliverables and execute activities belonging to electrical discipline in compliance with safety and technological requirements and standards defined for the project. He/She reports to the Head of Department, while reports to the Instrumentation Discipline Leader assigned to the project for the project related activities. High school or Bachelor’s Degree in Automation or Electrical Engineering. Experience in engineering design in Oil & Gas or Power sectors is preferred. Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken). Availability to short and long term national and international business trips. Guided by the Automation Discipline Leader, Automation Engineer main tasks during project execution are: Load schedule/ Plant load balance Network studies and calculations (Load flow, short circuit, stability, protection settings, harmonics, etc.) Electrical equipment specifications for MV and LV equipment such as Motor Control Centers, switchgears, metering panels, transformers, UPSes, VFDs, motors, heaters,



etc. CCTV, Public Address systems Electrical cables routing, power distribution Electrical layout drawings Technical specifications / data sheets for field and control room instrumentation. Process hook-up sketches and relevant bill of materials. Instrumentation cabling, wiring, junction boxes, power supply and distribution, UPS, and associated TCP/IP, SCADA, Modbus networking (switches, routers, Ethernet, fiber optics, etc.) Packages and/or Machinery controls and protection systems Fire and Gas detection and protection systems As part of the Department the Automation Engineer: Provides feedback to Instrumentation Discipline Leader to increase efficiency of the group assigned to the project Receives continuous training on the job according to the needs of the Department acquiring competences and shared experiences Keeps him/herself updated about the electrical design He/She can assist the pre-commissioning/commissioning supervisor and start-up supervisor for all those activities related to plant process automation
