Offer Description
The PhD program in Sciences and Cultures of Musical Heritage is based on the disciplinary areas of musicology and music history, film and media studies, English language, economics and business management, and applied education, particularly related to the enhancement and enjoyment of cultural institutions (libraries, archives, museums, and theatres). It also covers the most innovative forms of performance and, more broadly, the essential role of creativity as a tool for developing the social impact of studies on the past and the musical heritage that constitutes its primary legacy. This PhD is highly relevant as the culture of libraries, archives, and museums, in its contemporary transformations, as well as any application and communication of studies on the past, cannot ignore the most advanced and innovative forms of the performing arts and the various traditional and digital dimensions, both in educational functions and in continuing education and social development integrated through creativity.

The program aims to analyse and understand, from different perspectives and methodologies, the various aspects of both tangible and intangible musical heritage through a full comprehension of both the original context of production and the current context of consumption. This approach focuses on combining a rigorous method of analysing musical heritage with the necessary skills for its full enhancement.
