Package: €10,000–€12,000 net per month + travel + accommodation

We are currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to join a leading international client on a major data centre project in Milan.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior commissioning professional to take a client-side role, overseeing commissioning delivery and ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards across all critical systems.

The Role

As Commissioning Manager, you will provide client-side leadership and oversight of the commissioning process, working closely with the General Contractor, commissioning specialists, MEP contractors, vendors and project stakeholders.

You will be responsible for ensuring commissioning activities are properly planned, coordinated, executed and documented through to final handover.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and oversee the overall commissioning strategy and programme.
- Act as the key client-side commissioning representative on the project.
- Review and approve commissioning plans, procedures, schedules and test documentation.
- Coordinate with the General Contractor, commissioning agents, MEP contractors and specialist vendors.
- Monitor pre-commissioning, commissioning and integrated systems testing activities.
- Review and witness FAT, SAT, functional performance testing and integrated systems testing.
- Ensure commissioning activities align with the construction programme and project milestones.
- Identify commissioning risks,



issues and dependencies and drive them through to resolution.
- Review test results and commissioning documentation for compliance with project requirements.
- Manage commissioning progress reporting and provide regular updates to the client.
- Oversee the close-out of commissioning issues, defects and punch lists.
- Support final systems acceptance, handover and operational readiness.
- Ensure the project is delivered in accordance with client standards, specifications and critical infrastructure requirements.

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Commissioning Manager / Commissioning Lead on major projects.
- Strong data centre / mission-critical commissioning experience is highly desirable.
- Previous client-side commissioning experience is advantageous.
- Extensive knowledge of MEP systems, with strong electrical and/or mechanical commissioning expertise.
- Experience managing commissioning activities across complex, high-value projects.
- Strong understanding of integrated systems testing and critical infrastructure environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Experience working with General Contractors, specialist subcontractors and commissioning agents.
- Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
- Fluency in English is essential; Italian language skills are advantageous.
