MID-SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER / ARCHITECTURAL DESIGNER

Milan | Freelance / Partita IVA | International Luxury Residential Projects

We are a UK-based interior design company specialising in high-end residential projects in the UK and internationally.

We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer / Architectural Designer to join us on a long-term freelance basis and work closely with the Creative Director across all stages of our projects, from design development and technical drawings through to procurement, site coordination and installation.

An office is available in Milan, Porta Romana, although the working arrangement is flexible. When the Creative Director is travelling or working abroad, regular presence in the Milan office is generally not required.

Many of our projects are located outside Italy, so the candidate must be comfortable with international travel, occasionally at short notice.

The Role

This is a varied and hands-on position for someone who enjoys being involved in the entire design and delivery process.

Responsibilities will include

- Developing design concepts into detailed and construction drawings
- Producing plans, elevations, sections and technical details
- Preparing and updating project documentation and drawing packages
- Developing bespoke furniture, joinery, kitchens, bathrooms and architectural details
- Producing 3D models and high-quality renderings
- Researching and specifying furniture, lighting, materials, finishes and accessories
- Preparing schedules and specifications
- Liaising directly with suppliers, contractors, craftsmen and consultants
- Requesting and reviewing quotations
- Managing orders and coordinating with suppliers from specification through to delivery
- Monitoring lead times,



deliveries and installations
- Attending site visits and assisting with site and project coordination
- Checking that works are being executed in accordance with the design
- Resolving design and technical issues as they arise
- Assisting with the organisation of projects, deadlines and priorities
- Travelling to projects, suppliers and installations in Italy and internationally

Experience & Skills The ideal candidate will have:
- A degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline
- A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience, preferably within a high-end residential interior design or architecture practice
- Strong experience in technical and construction drawings
- Excellent understanding of construction details and bespoke joinery
- Practical experience working with contractors and suppliers
- Good knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture and lighting
- Strong 3D modelling and rendering skills
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously
- A practical, proactive and solution-oriented approach
- The confidence to communicate directly with clients, suppliers, contractors and consultants
- Good spoken and written English

CAD & 3D Software

Our studio works primarily with Vectorworks.

Previous Vectorworks experience is welcome but not essential.



Candidates with strong AutoCAD skills are encouraged to apply, as the transition from AutoCAD to Vectorworks is relatively straightforward.

Strong proficiency in at least one professional 3D modelling and rendering programme is required.

Practical Requirements

- The collaboration is on a freelance / self-employed basis with Italian Partita IVA
- Driving licence and own car are required
- Business mileage and fuel expenses will be reimbursed
- Availability to travel internationally, including occasionally at short notice
- Flexibility regarding working location and project requirements

Working Arrangement The company is based in the UK, with an office available in Milan, Porta Romana.

The position is based around Milan but offers considerable flexibility. Presence in the office is required when necessary for project development, meetings and coordination, but when the Creative Director is abroad, working remotely will generally be possible.

The role will involve a combination of design work, technical development, supplier coordination, site visits and international travel.

Compensation

From €3,000+ per month, depending on experience, technical skills and level of autonomy.

This is intended as a long-term and continuous freelance collaboration rather than occasional project-based work.
