The Organization's Staff Credit Union (CU) is a self-funded operation that started in **** which was formally integrated into the FAO in January ****.
The CU helps FAO and WFP Staff by providing an avenue for their savings as well as extending their credit facilities.
It is convenient, free of charge and hassle-free service.
The position is located in the FAO Credit Union, at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Main Purpose
The Head Teller (FAO Credit Union) coordinates and performs the full range of functions in support of the CU's activities.
He /she ensures quality, transparency and consistency of data and processes within his/her area of responsibility and contributes to a smooth functioning of the work of the unit.
He/she oversees day-to-day operations by Front Office staff with particular emphasis on new members and all aspects of CU's lending operations to ensure compliance with its rules and procedures and completion of requests in a timely, efficient and accurate manner in order to maintain excellent customer service levels.
Supervision Received/Exercised
The Head Teller (FAO Credit Union) reports to the Member Services Officer, CSFU.
The incumbent operates independently and takes decisions on work priorities.
Supervision received is focused on the quality of work outputs, in particular the meeting of timelines and the quality of advice given to clients.
He / she provides guidance and advice to other support staff.
Working Relationships
The Head Teller (FAO Credit Union) works closely with colleagues in the CSFU team and with client departments/ offices in the handling of routine and specialized processes, promoting the effective and efficient delivery of finance-related services.
Key Functions/Results
Coordinate the processing of member savings and loan transaction requests;
Ensure Tellers are applying rules and policies governing loans and savings;
Oversee and assist members with account opening/closures;
Oversee other front-office operations (deposits, account templates, account certificates and other requests);
Coordinate and oversee daily/monthly/quarterly procedures;
Liaise with the Human Resources Division and members on matters relating to member accounts;
Ensure proper archiving of member's correspondence and daily transactions;
Monitor and update members' records regarding personnel actions;
Perform other related duties as required.
Impact Of Work
The incumbent's work impacts on the timely and efficient delivery of financial support services and on the overall output of the work unit.
Working in an efficient, precise and confidential manner strengthens the trust between members and the credit union.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
Education: Secondary School Education
Experience: Four years of relevant experience in finance and budget-related support work
Languages: Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English.
IT Skills: Good knowledge of the MS Office applications, Internet and office technology equipment
Residency: General Service Staff are recruited locally.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must be nationals of the country of the duty station or possess an existing valid visa to work or a valid work permit and reside within commuting distance of the duty station at the time of the application.
"Commuting distance" means the distance within which staff members can travel daily between their place of work and their residence.

Desirable Qualifications And Skills
Knowledge and understanding of activities related to transactions pertaining to a credit union.
Intermediate knowledge (intermediate proficiency - Level B) of one of the other FAO languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
Experience in a wide range of services of a financial nature.
Good knowledge of FAO's financial rules and regulations, accounting policies and practices.
