**JOB DESCRIPTION: ENGLISH LITERATURE & HUMANITIES TEACHER** **Role Summary**:
The English Literature & Humanities Teacher will provide individual lessons to students enrolled in the Individual Programme of The British School of Monaco. This role involves delivering personalised instruction tailored to the specific needs of each student, focusing on developing their skills in literary analysis, critical writing, historical inquiry, and global perspectives. The teacher will engage students with classical and modern literary texts, while also fostering an understanding of history, geography, and philosophical thought. The primary goal is to help students achieve their academic objectives while fostering a love for literature, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of human societies. **Key Responsibilities**: - Individualised Teaching_
- Plan and deliver personalised English Literature and Humanities lessons tailored to each student’s level, needs, and goals.
- Help students develop skills in analysis, interpretation, research, and critical writing.
- Explore a variety of literary texts, historical events, and philosophical themes, aligned with curriculum requirements.
- Progress Monitoring and Assessment_
- Conduct initial assessments to identify each student’s strengths and areas for improvement.
- Regularly evaluate student progress using formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of student goals, progress, and achievements.
- Exam Preparation_
- Prepare students for British public exams such as IGCSE and A Level English Literature and Humanities (one of History, Geography, Classical Civilisation or a related subjecs).
- Teach effective writing techniques, source analysis skills,



and exam strategies to meet academic expectations.
- Stakeholder Communication_
- Collaborate closely with parents, guardians, or academic advisors to share student progress and set clear objectives.
- Attend meetings with the school leadership team to review student development.
- Resource Creation_
- Develop tailored activities, exercises, and teaching materials to meet individual student needs.
- Emotional and Social Support_
- Encourage students to build confidence and autonomy in their study of literature and humanities.
- Provide support to students facing academic or emotional challenges related to their studies.
- School Contributions_
- Contribute to the improvement of the Individual Programme by sharing best practices with colleagues.
- Participate in training sessions and meetings organized by the school. **Skills and Qualifications**: - Essential_
- Native-level English proficiency.
- A university degree in English Literature, History, Humanities, or a related field.
- A recognized teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Proven experience teaching English Literature and Humanities to secondary school students, ideally in one-on-one settings in a British or international school.
- Proficiency in adapting teaching methods to meet specific student needs.
- Desirable_
