**APPLICATION CLOSING DATE: May 23rd, 2025**
- Marie Skłodowska‑Curie Doctoral Network (HORIZON‑MSCA‑2023‑DN‑01)_ _Human Technopole (HT), Milan - in collaboration with Humanitas University (HUNIMED)_ **Research Project** Antibiotic resistance emerges and spreads in complex microbial communities; yet most existing models focus on single species. This PhD project will develop mechanistic models grounded on microbial physiology to understand how interactions among mutually dependent bacteria influence: - ** Antibiotic tolerance** under more realistic community settings.
- ** Community-level perturbations**, tracing how environmental shifts or drug exposure propagate through interacting microbial systems.
- ** Evolutionary trajectories toward antimicrobial resistance**, linking tolerance to long‑term resistance evolution in systems where microbes interact. The fellow will integrate data from high throughput growth assays, timekill curves and multiomics data (transcriptomics/proteomics) to build and validate predictive models that can inform more effective antimicrobial interventions. Close collaboration with ENDAMR partners will provide complementary experimental datasets and expertise. **Training Environment**
- ** Interdisciplinary mentoring** in systems biology, quantitative microbiology, data analysis, mathematical modeling, and numerical methods.
- ** Specialised courses & network‑wide workshops** organised by the ENDAMR consortium.
- ** Secondments (up to 3 months)** at consortium partners such as Uppsala University and Umea University.
