For the purpose of this vacancy, internal and internal-equivalent candidates are considered as first-tier candidates. /p pbOrganizational Context and Scope /b /p pUnder the general supervision of the Director, Coordination Office for the Mediterranean, Chief of Mission in Italy and Malta and Representative to the Holy See, the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the incumbent will perform the duties listed below as Project Assistant, Protection. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 pAssist in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. /p ul liRetrieve, compile, summarise, and present information/data on specific project topics. /li liMonitor budget by verifying availability of funds, obtaining necessary approval and updating budget-related information. /li liSupport administrative coordination of project implementation, involving liaison with diverse organisational units and external parties to initiate requests, obtain necessary clearances, process and follow-up on administrative actions, etc. /li liDraft status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery and bringing them to the attention of supervisor. /li liDraft correspondence, reports, briefing notes, graphics,



statistical tables, presentations and other forms of documentation. /li liOrganise meetings, workshops and training sessions. /li liRespond to general information requests and inquiries. Set up and maintain files/records. /li liPerform such other relevant duties as maybe assigned. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 pbRequired Qualifications and Experience /b /p pbEducation /b /p pBachelor’s degree in Social Works, International Relations, Psycologyor a related field from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience; or, /p pHigh School diploma with four years of relevant professional experience. /p pExperience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations; /p pExperience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and, /p ul liPrior work experience with international humanitarian organisations, non-government or government institutions/organisation in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. /li liExperience in working with vulnerable groups. /li /ul pbSkills /b /p pKnowledge of migration related areas dealt with by the Organization. /p pFamiliarity with the migration context in Italy and with movement-related operations is considered an asset. /p pbLanguages /b /p pAll IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). /p pFor this position, fluency in bItalian /band bEnglish /b is required (oral and written). /p pWorking knowledge of French is an asset. /p pProficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. /p pIOM’s competency framework can be found at this link .
