Introduction

Veterinary Specialist Services is an established Small Animal referral practice in South East Queensland. We have hospitals at Carrara, Jindalee, and Underwood. We are striving to create an environment where people can do their best work. Our teams are very passionate about delivering patient care and support each other to do it. We have a very diverse skill set and can offer just about all specialities, diagnostic modalities, and therapies across our practice group. We have residency training programs for vets, in house training programs for nurses and internships where many of our interns have progressed to become registered Specialists. We are involved in the industry with wide participation in professional groups, universities, continuing education courses and we run our own annual conference.

Description

Reporting to the Nurse Manager responsibilities include:

- All areas of animal handling and restraint including walking of patients, providing environmental enrichment for in-patients and assisting with restraining for in-patient procedures
- Assist veterinarians and nurses with treatment of patients as required.
- Assist with equipment cleaning and sterilising in surgical department




- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness across all wards, patient cages, runs, yards and maintain a high level of the hygiene across the hospital, both inside and out
- Restocking of veterinary consumables and equipment
- Assist the housekeeping team with laundry
- General cleaning such as emptying bins, tidying benches, and washing patient dishes as required

Skills And Experiences

The successful candidate will possess:

- At least one year in the companion animal industry (Vet clinic and/or boarding facility)
- Ability to demonstrate experience in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A high level of attention to detail
- Ability to follow direction
- Possess a friendly, flexible, and approachable manner
- Be an animal lover
- Outstanding punctuality & reliability
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent health for a highly physical task list

This is a casual role with availability Mon-Fri between the hours 7am-7pm
