ppRINA is currently recruiting for a bEngineer -Mechanical Hydrogen Laboratory /b to join its office in Rome within the bMechanical and Materials Engineering /b Division. /ph3Mission /h3pRINA Consulting – Centro Sviluppo Materiali is searching for a new resource to be introduced as Lab Engineer for the “Material Characterization Discipline”, with particularly focusing on the Mechanical and Hydrogen Testing laboratory. The Laboratory performs mechanical tests on specimens or medium-scale components or parts of components in their real dimensions, verifying their performance and operating limits, in real conditions of use, or forcing them to destruction to discover their mechanical limits or to characterize the materials (metals, polymers, composites, fibers, fabrics). The Laboratory works in the field of steel, oil gas, power generation, aerospace defense, automotive, additive manufacturing, construction and many other sectors. In recent years, the focus on hydrogen has become strong and, as part of the Hydra Project, which RINA designed with a view to energy transition and decarbonization of the steel production process, mechanical testing in hydrogen has become an object of the laboratory's activities. /ph3Key Accountabilities /h3ullisupport in coordination of laboratory activities /lilisupervision of test execution /lilipost-test data analysis /lilidrafting of test reports in accordance with standards and/or customer requests (also in English) /lilisupport in development of non-standard test procedures and methods /lilidesign and development of components for standard/non-standard tests /lilimachines maintenance management /lilisupport in managing quality assurance and maintaining/obtaining certifications /liliprocurement support (supplier identification, qualification, procurement of offers, receipt of materials) /lilisupport in management of lab logistics /lilicollaboration with other team members to carry out the work and resolve problems.



/liliavailability to travel (also medium term) /li /ulpThe new resource will respond to the head of the Material characterization discipline but he will be deeply introduced in the Laboratory, with internal training (on the job). /ph3Education /h3pMaster’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering /ph3Qualifications /h3p0-3 years of experience in mechanical laboratory activities, structural integrity assessment, fracture mechanics, fatigue testing, or material qualification. /ppGood knowledge of mechanical behavior and mechanisms affecting metallic materials under severe loading and hydrogen environments. /ppExperience with mechanical testing techniques including tensile testing, fracture toughness testing, fatigue crack growth, slow strain rate testing (SSRT), CTOD, J-integral evaluation, and large strain material characterization. /ppFamiliarity with hydrogen-related testing methodologies and material qualification for hydrogen service is considered a plus. /ppFamiliarity with industry standards and recommended practices (ASTM, ISO, ASME, API, EN, NACE). /ppFamiliarity of laboratory instrumentation, mechanical testing systems, data acquisition systems, and post-processing techniques. /ppFamiliarity with laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements (e.g., ISO 17025). /ppKnowledge of metallurgy, fractography, and failure analysis techniques. /ppFamiliarity with CAD and FEM tools is considered a plus. /ppAvailability for business travel and on-site technical support activities. /ppGood technical English (written and spoken).
