The Laboratory performs mechanical tests on specimens or medium-scale components or parts of components in their real dimensions, verifying their performance and operating limits, in real conditions of use, or forcing them to destruction to discover their mechanical limits or to characterize the materials (metals, polymers, composites, fibers, fabrics). The Laboratory works in the field of steel, oil gas, power generation, aerospace defense, automotive, additive manufacturing, construction and many other sectors. In recent years, the focus on hydrogen has become strong and, as part of the Hydra Project, which RINA designed with a view to energy transition and decarbonization of the steel production process, mechanical testing in hydrogen has become an object of the laboratory's activities. /p h3bKey Accountabilities /b /h3 ul lisupport in coordination of laboratory activities /li lisupervision of test execution /li lipost-test data analysis /li lidrafting of test reports in accordance with standards and/or customer requests (also in English) /li lisupport in development of non-standard test procedures and methods /li lidesign and development of components for standard/non-standard tests /li limachines maintenance management /li lisupport in managing quality assurance and maintaining/obtaining certifications /liliprocurement support (supplier identification, qualification, procurement of offers,



receipt of materials) /li lisupport in management of lab logistics /li licollaboration with other team members to carry out the work and resolve problems. /li liavailability to travel (also medium term) /li /ul pThe new resource will respond to the head of the Material characterization discipline but he will be deeply introduced in the Laboratory, with internal training (on the job). /p p#LI-IG1 /p h3bEducation /b /h3 pMaster’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering /p h3bQualifications /b /h3 p0-3 years of experience in mechanical laboratory activities, structural integrity assessment, fracture mechanics, fatigue testing, or material qualification. /p pGood knowledge of mechanical behavior and mechanisms affecting metallic materials under severe loading and hydrogen environments. /p pExperience with mechanical testing techniques including tensile testing, fracture toughness testing, fatigue crack growth, slow strain rate testing (SSRT), CTOD, J-integral evaluation, and large strain material characterization. /p pFamiliarity with hydrogen-related testing methodologies and material qualification for hydrogen service is considered a plus. /p pFamiliarity with industry standards and recommended practices (ASTM, ISO, ASME, API, EN, NACE). /p pFamiliarity of laboratory instrumentation, mechanical testing systems, data acquisition systems, and post-processing techniques. /p pFamiliarity with laboratory quality systems and accreditation requirements (e.g., ISO 17025). /p pKnowledge of metallurgy, fractography, and failure analysis techniques. /p pFamiliarity with CAD and FEM tools is considered a plus.
