Moncalieri, Italia - Engineering You will gain valuable experience by learning the tools, methodologies, and technical aspects of XR development with the support of your tutor and colleagues in the Department. Italdesign has a long-standing expertise in the development of Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality, and Virtual Reality solutions within its XR-Solutions team, part of the Strak & XR-Solutions Department. You will be involved in the design and development of a software solution aimed at accelerating and improving the analysis and engineering of tolerance chains, leveraging 3D environments, virtual visualization platforms and virtual reality technologies. You will be part of the XR-Solutions team and will actively collaborate with the Virtual Vehicle Department to ensure the technical and functional integration of the solution within Italdesign’s digital ecosystem. Thesis Project As a thesis student, you will be supported by your Tutor in order to analyse and develop the following thesis project about: - What is Tolerance Chain Analysis (TCA) and why visualize it in Virtual Reality;
- Understand the fundamentals of Autodesk VRED as a virtual visualization platform;
- Explore the available programming interfaces and scripting techniques in VRED (e.g. Python API, VRED nodes, custom UI integration);




- Analyse the structure and functionalities of the VRED NVIZ plugin and its role within the visualization pipeline;
- Develop a custom VRED plugin to automate current manual operations, including the implementation of data conformity checks and validation routines;
- Design and develop interactive tools in Virtual Reality to support the exploration and interpretation of tolerance chain analysis results. **Requirements**:
**Requirements**: - Strong interest in software development, particularly in Python 3.x using object-oriented programming principles;
- Willingness to explore and develop using Autodesk VRED APIs and scripting tools;
- Basic knowledge or familiarity with PySide2 and/or PySide6 for GUI development, and Pandas for data manipulation;
- Basic knowledge of CAD systems (e.g., CATIA) is a plus but not mandatory;
- Good team working skills;
- Innovation oriented and eager to learn;
- Sense of responsibility and integrity;
- Good interpersonal and communication skills;
- Proactive mindset and ability to manage time effectively;
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
