Applications Engineer - Production Machinery Location: Mason, OH

Position Summary
The Applications Engineer designs, plans, and integrates machinery, equipment, and processes into customer manufacturing operations. This role analyzes customer requirements, applies Makino products and peripheral technologies, and develops machining solutions to support customer success.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate customer part geometry to determine optimal machining processes, including tooling selection, cutting time, and surface finish.
- Develop solutions using Makino equipment and third-party products; integrate, test, and document results.
- Create and edit CNC tool paths for customer applications and demonstrations.
- Prepare and execute pre-sale cutting demonstrations to support sales efforts and differentiate Makino's technology.
- Provide post-sale technical support through on-site visits, training, and troubleshooting.
- Represent Makino at regional and national trade shows with live demonstrations and technical discussions.
- Collaborate with engineering, marketing, sales, and other departments to provide technical expertise.
- Stay current with die/mold technology and machining innovations through training and industry events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associate degree in a technical field or completion of a mold making/tool & die apprenticeship preferred.
- Basic CNC knowledge and hands-on machining experience.
- Strong technical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Professional presence with strong customer interaction skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel up to 30%.
