Bozen/Bolzano full-time Institute for Alpine Environment The Institute for Alpine Environment of Eurac Research performs problem-oriented research of mountain environments in the fields of landscape ecology, global change, biodiversity, ecosystem services and sustainable development. we are searching for a highly motivated Junior Researcher to support the activities of two recently funded research projects in the field of forest ecology, forest management and forest mensuration. The working location is Bolzano/Bozen, at the Institute for Alpine Environment of Eurac Research. Fieldwork activities will be carried out from spring to late autumn in mountain and subalpine forests within the Province of South Tyrol. **Tasks**: - Organize and prepare gear and materials for fieldwork, and coordinating assisting personnel
- Collect data in the field (stand and tree-level measurements) using forest inventory methods, in situ sensors and close-range remote sensing equipment
- Digitalize and analyze field data to derive meaningful indicators for climate smart forestry
- Build and maintain an open access database with collected data
- Support the preparation of project deliverables and scientific manuscripts **Requirements**:



- Master’s degree in forestry and environmental sciences (or related)
- Good background in silviculture and forest management
- Good knowledge of R statistics language and GIS software
- Experience in forest mensuration and forest inventory methods is an asset
- Familiarity with dendroecological and tree growth measurements methods
- Proficiency in English (both written and spoken) is required, along with good skills in either Italian or German
- Class B driver's license
- Willingness and availability to work in alpine areas and to conduct field activities in alpine terrain
- Efficient organization skills to manage fieldwork both autonomously and in collaboration with colleagues. We offer: - Full time position (80% tempo parziale is also possible)
