Data Center IT Manager, Data Center Operations
Job ID: | Amazon Data Services Italy S.R.Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in one of our sites in Milan.
We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, technical understanding, and the drive to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level.
You have experience creating and devising strategies, mentoring people, sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. You will manage teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participate in an on‑call rotation. You are willing to work autonomously and manage your teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition, you will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site‑level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.
~DATA CENTER OPERATIONS (DCO)
You will guide a team of technical professionals to support this work, as well as frequent engagement in the following activities:
~ Routinely review ticket queues for large events and act accordingly
~ Manage and deliver mid‑size projects
~ Manage a diverse and talented team of Data Center Technicians with varying skills, creates an inclusive environment
~ Maintain the on‑call schedule, and coordinate absence and vacations ensuring 24/7 operations
~ Participate in on‑call rotation for emergency and manages technical escalations

Speak, write, and read fluently in English
Direct people management experience and proven track record of success in delivering projects despite competing priorities and distractions
Understanding of IT Operations and Service Management practices
Experience in program or project management
Experience with Information Technology (IT) infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices and IT service delivery principles and best practices
Understanding of critical electrical, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), control and Change Management Systems (CMS)
Prior ownership of the operation of a mission‑critical team or product

The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full‑time basis. For part‑time hours, the salary will be pro‑rated.
