ppThe Planner is responsible for preparing and coordinating vessel, yard, and rail plans to ensure efficient cargo flow and smooth terminal operations. This role supports operational teams by providing accurate plans, timely updates, and clear instructions that align with customer requirements, safety standards, and terminal capacity. The Planner works closely with multiple departments to ensure that vessel, yard, and rail activities are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. /p h3Summary of responsibilities: /h3 ul liPrepare vessel stowage plans for container and RORO vessels in accordance with operational priorities, safety rules, and customer instructions. /li liValidate load and discharge lists, special cargo requirements, and DG documentation. /li liCoordinate with shipping lines, cargo control, and documentation teams to ensure cargo readiness. /li liCommunicate vessel plans to execution teams and update plans as operational conditions change. /li liAllocate yard space for import, export, transshipment for Containers, RO-RO and General Cargo based on vessel schedules, DG segregation rules, and yard capacity. /li liMonitor yard utilization and identify potential congestion or operational conflicts. /li liProvide clear stacking and positioning instructions to yard strategist and equipment operators. /li liAdjust yard plans in real time based on cargo flow, equipment availability, and operational changes. /li liPrepare rail loading and unloading plans, including wagon allocation and cargo sequencing. /li liCoordinate with rail operators, gate teams, and yard execution staff to ensure timely rail operations. /li liMonitor rail performance and adjust plans to maintain service levels. /li liEnsure rail operations align with customer requirements and terminal capacity. /li liWork closely with Cargo Control, Gate Operations, Execution, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment between planning and real‑time operations. /li liParticipate in daily operational briefings and shift handovers. /li liSupport operational teams during disruptions, equipment breakdowns, or vessel schedule changes. /li liEnsure all planning activities comply with safety standards, IMDG regulations, and terminal procedures. /li liMonitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve planning accuracy and efficiency.
/li liContribute to initiatives aimed at reducing re‑handles, improving productivity, and enhancing service reliability. /li liMaintain accurate records of plans, operational changes, and performance indicators. /li liSupport the development and optimization of planning tools and TOS functionalities. /li liAssist in training new planners and operational staff in planning processes and TOS usage. /li liProvide planning support during peak periods or complex vessel/rail operations. /li liShare knowledge and best practices within the planning team. /li /ul h3Education Experience /h3 ul liHigh school diploma. A college degree in Logistics, Operations Management, or related discipline is an advantage. /li liRequires intermediate English writing and speaking. Fluency and/or advanced level in an advantage. /li liRequires at 2–4 years of experience in terminal operations, vessel planning, yard planning, or rail logistics. /li liExperience in a container or RORO terminal environment is preferred. /li liFamiliarity with TOS systems and operational planning tools. /li /ul h3Technical Skills Knowledge Required /h3 ul liGood understanding of container and RORO terminal operations, including vessel, yard, and rail planning processes. /li liProficiency in Terminal Operating Systems (e.g., NAVIS N4, RBS, or similar). /li liKnowledge of IMDG regulations, DG segregation rules, and port safety standards. /li liAbility to interpret stowage plans, yard layouts, rail schedules, and operational forecasts. /li liStrong analytical skills and attention to detail. /li liCommunication: Clear and effective communicator with internal teams and external stakeholders. /li liProblem‑Solving: Able to troubleshoot operational issues and propose practical solutions. /li liDecision‑Making: Capable of making timely decisions based on operational priorities. /li liCollaboration: Works well with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
/li liAdaptability: Able to adjust plans quickly in response to operational changes. /li liOrganization: Manages multiple tasks and priorities effectively. /li liAttention to Detail: Maintains accuracy in planning, documentation, and operational instructions. /li /ul h3Qualifications Experience /h3 ul liMinimum 3 years of experience in terminal operations, yard planning, or vessel planning (container and/or RORO). /li liStrong understanding of port logistics, cargo handling equipment, and yard operations. /li liAdvanced knowledge of TOS systems and operational planning tools. /li liEducation in Logistics, Maritime Studies, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred but not mandatory with strong experience). /li /ul h3Language Requirements /h3 ul liFluent spoken and written Italian is a must. /li liFluent spoken and written English is a must. /li /ul h3Salary range: € /h3 pThe salary range indicated represents the expected compensation for the position.
