A global technology company is investing heavily in next-generation AI solutions designed to transform how complex engineering systems are developed, simulated and tested. Its research and engineering teams are bringing together advanced AI, software engineering and model-based technologies to create smarter tools for engineers working on sophisticated real-world systems.

As an Agentic AI Expert, you will join a collaborative, research-led team focused on bringing modern LLM and agentic AI capabilities into engineering applications. Focussing on Model-Based Engineering and help shape how AI can automate and improve engineering workflows, while working with technologies including LLMs, RAG, multi-agent architectures and tool integration.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and integrate agentic AI workflows into existing engineering and Model-Based Design software.
- Develop AI-driven capabilities for engineering code, model, test and diagram generation.
- Build multi-agent workflows that interact with engineering tools, simulations and external systems.
- Integrate LLM APIs, retrieval systems, tool calling and Model Context Protocol servers into software applications.
- Analyse and improve distributed LLM workflows, focusing on performance, scalability, reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with software engineers, researchers and systems specialists to turn AI concepts into usable engineering products.

Required Experience & Skills

Essential:

- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline; PhD advantageous.
- Strong professional programming experience with Python and Java.




- Hands-on experience developing applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) and LLM APIs.
- Practical experience with Lang Chain, Lang Graph, or comparable AI/agent frameworks.
- Experience developing AI agents, agentic workflows and multi-agent systems.
- Strong understanding of RAG, tool calling, orchestration, structured outputs, prompt engineering, task decomposition and planning.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into existing software products or engineering applications.
- Experience working with software testing and regression testing.
- Understanding of LLM pipeline optimisation, including latency, scalability, throughput, reliability and token efficiency.
- Familiarity with Model-Based Engineering, including UML, block diagrams, state machines or simulation models.
- Strong English communication skills and the ability to work effectively within an international engineering environment.
- Willingness to work on-site in Pisa, Italy.

Desirable:

- Experience with model-to-text, text-to-model or model-to-model transformations.
- Knowledge of domain-specific languages, model transformation or code generation frameworks.
- Experience with C++, embedded systems, real-time software, automotive or vehicle software.
- Experience with Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) or similar modelling ecosystems.




- Experience with reinforcement learning, fine-tuning, quantisation or knowledge distillation.
- Experience with MLOps, private LLM deployments or vLLM.
- Familiarity with CI/CD and automated software delivery.
- Experience evaluating agent reliability, tool-use accuracy and AI workflow performance.
