About EU Policy Insight

EU Policy Insight is an independent Italian cultural association based in Venice, producing accessible analysis of EU digital policy. We work on the AI Act, the digital euro, the Digital Services Act, and the Data Governance Act, publishing working papers, consultation responses, and commentary that reaches an audience across the EU institutions. Our work is produced by a small distributed team of volunteer contributors, and our SSRN papers and public commentary have drawn engagement from ECB, European Commission, and European Parliament accounts.

The role

You will lead our research function and a team of 5–6 volunteer contributors, taking day-to-day responsibility for what we research and publish.

Responsibilities

- Set and maintain the research agenda for the 2026–2027 cycle across EU digitalisation files
- Assign research topics and writing tasks to contributors, matching work to their expertise
- Track delivery against agreed deadlines and keep the publication pipeline moving
- Review drafts, give substantive feedback, and act as final editorial check before publication
- Scope working papers and coordinate responses to open EU consultations
- Run regular team check-ins and onboard new contributors
- Represent the research line in our public output and with external contacts
- Report to the founder on progress and priorities

Profile





- PhD candidate or early-career researcher in EU law, regulation, economics, political economy, or a related field
- Solid knowledge of at least one core file: AI Act, digital euro and payments regulation, or platform regulation
- Experience coordinating people or projects, even informally
- Excellent written English; Italian or another EU language an asset
- Comfortable working autonomously in a small volunteer organisation

Terms

This role is unpaid at present, undertaken on a voluntary basis under a written collaboration agreement compliant with Italian law. The role is task-based rather than tied to fixed hours: work is organised around agreed deliverables and deadlines, and you manage your own schedule. Fully remote. Contributors retain a non-exclusive licence over their own work and keep named authorship credit. If the association secures funding, we intend to revisit compensation for this role.
