Offer Description

The successful candidate will undertake research activities as part of the COMPASS project, funded by the Italian Science Fund (FIS3). The project seeks to elucidate how interactions among the resident microbiota and the mosquito host influence arbovirus transmission by shaping vector competence, thereby laying the foundation for the
development of innovative and sustainable symbiont-based vector control strategies

The selections are open to candidates, Italian or foreigner, in possession, on the date of the deadline for submitting applications for the admission to the selection,



of a master's degree or single-cycle degree obtained no more than six years previously are eligible to participate in the selection process. These degrees must be relevant to the subject of the research activity.

Further specific assessable qualifications (see Art. 1 par. 1 Call for applications):

- Demonstrated experience in the study of bacterial microbiota in insect-microorganism systems.
- In-depth knowledge of mosquito biology, including colony establishment and maintenance, insect rearing, and in vivo experimental wor, including viral infections in BSL2/3 labs.
- Strong expertise in molecular biology techniques, including molecular cloning, PCR, and qPCR.
- Experience in supervising undergraduate, master's, and/or PhD students.
- Ability to work independently and to make intellectual contributions to experimental design and the scientific development of research projects.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
