Watershed Tender/Hoisting Operator/Laborer

Salary Range: $25.02 - $29.96

City of Attleboro seeks a Watershed Tender/Hoisting Operator/Laborer

for the Water Department who, under the direction of the Water Superintendent is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of grounds surrounding the City's watershed areas, as well as assisting the maintenance staff with the upkeep and maintenance of the water treatment plants and vehicle and equipment fleet. Duties include controls equipment to regulate water flow and water levels in reservoirs. Cuts grass and brush on watershed properties. Maintains watersheds and other Water Department properties. Operates heavy equipment. Keeps records on reservoir levels and daily weather. Repair and maintain machinery and equipment used in the distribution of drinking water including pumps, piping, valves, motors, and filters. Grease and repair pumps, replace bearings and other worn parts and components of all specialized equipment. Operate machinery and equipment as necessary in connection with maintenance and repair. Perform maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and equipment including both gasoline and diesel engines and engine- powered equipment. Perform tune-ups, repair brake and electrical systems,



perform clutch and transmission repairs. Perform minor auto body work and related welding. Perform preventive maintenance work and change tires and batteries. Perform maintenance and repair of buildings and property including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing cords and fuses. Participates in City snow and ice program. Performs related work as required.

Requires a High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience as grounds keeper or maintenance man, or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment ordinarily used in the repair and maintenance of buildings, machinery and motor vehicles. knowledge of the methods of grounds maintenance including care of lawns and cutting of brush.
