Senior R&D; Expert – Excavator Development | Imola, Italy

✈️ Travel: Up to 50% across Europe, UK & China

I’m currently looking for a Senior R&D; Expert – Application-Focused Excavators to join the engineering team of a global leader in construction machinery.

This is a brand-new role where you will act as the technical link between European customer requirements and global R&D; teams, helping develop and optimize excavators for demanding applications.

⚠️ TWO KEY REQUIREMENTS

1️⃣ Recent excavator development experience

We are specifically looking for someone with recent, hands-on experience in excavator development.

Ideally, you will have 8+ years of experience in R&D;, product development or application engineering within construction machinery, including proven and recent experience developing excavators.

General construction machinery experience without direct excavator development experience may not be sufficient for this particular role.

2️⃣ Italian + English

As this is an international position involving collaboration with teams and partners across different markets, strong professional communication skills in both Italian and English are important for the role.

Your responsibilities

- Translate customer requirements into engineering solutions
- Define specifications for application-specific excavator variants
- Develop concepts for attachments, hydraulic systems, reinforcements and machine adaptations
- Lead testing, validation and customer field trials




- Collaborate with global R&D; teams and technical partners
- Provide market and competitor insights to support product strategy

Your profile

- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field
- 8+ years of relevant R&D; / product development / application engineering experience
- Recent and proven excavator development experience
- Strong knowledge of excavators, hydraulics, machine integration and specialized attachments
- Experience in at least two areas:
- Demolition
- Material Handling
- Waste & Recycling
- Civil Engineering
- Strong professional communication skills in Italian and English
- Willingness to travel internationally
