Role description

Prometeon Tyre Group is looking for a Compound & Raw Materials Expert to join its Global R&D; Materials Team, reporting directly to the Compound & Raw Materials Manager.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, qualification and industrialization of raw materials and rubber compounds for industrial tyre applications. Working closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality and external partners, the selected professional will contribute to the design of innovative material solutions aimed at improving tyre performance, sustainability and manufacturing robustness.

This position is particularly suitable for professionals with experience in the tyre industry, rubber compounding, elastomer technologies, raw materials development or industrial R&D; environments .

Key responsibilities:

Raw Materials Strategy & Technology Scouting

- Identify, evaluate and introduce new raw materials, technologies and suppliers to enhance compound performance, sustainability and industrial robustness.
- Monitor industry trends and technological developments within the tyre, rubber and polymer sectors.
- Support strategic initiatives related to innovation and sustainable materials.

Compound Development & Project Management

- Lead the development of tyre compounds for industrial applications, translating product performance requirements into robust formulation strategies.
- Define, develop and optimize rubber compounds through laboratory and industrial validation activities.




- Manage material development projects from concept through industrialization.
- Analyse laboratory and manufacturing data to support effective technical decision-making.

Cross-Functional Technical Leadership

- Collaborate closely with Procurement, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality and HSE teams.
- Support the qualification and implementation of new raw materials and compounds across production sites.
- Contribute to troubleshooting, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives related to materials and compounds.

External Collaboration & Innovation

- Manage relationships with research centres, universities, suppliers and external technical partners.
- Promote technical collaborations and innovation projects aligned with Prometeon's R&D; roadmap.
- Review scientific literature, patents and supplier technical documentation to identify development opportunities.

Knowledge Sharing & Mentoring

- Act as a technical reference within the Materials Team.
- Support the growth of junior colleagues through mentoring and technical coaching.
- Promote best practices in material characterization, compounding and testing methodologies.

Qualifications required: We are looking for a senior professional with the following qualifications and skills:

- Educational background : Master’s degree in Chemistry or related fields such as Materials Science , Materials Engineering , Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering (preferably with a focus on polymers). A PhD or equivalent specialization is considered a plus.
- Relevant experience : several years of proven experience in raw materials,



rubber compounds or related industrial R&D; activities, preferably in the tyre, rubber or polymer sector.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory analytical techniques, including TGA , DSC , IR Spectroscopy , Titrations and BET . Knowledge of NMR and advanced material characterization techniques is a plus.
- Solid understanding of chemical reactions, synthesis, material characterization and the relationship between raw material properties, compound performance and industrial processing.
- Proven ability to read, interpret and translate technical patents, scientific literature and supplier documentation into actionable development proposals.
- Strong proficiency in the MS Office package (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and confidence in handling technical data analysis and reporting.
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Italian .
- Proven ability to develop compounds and effectively manage product development requests , translating product performance needs into robust and industrially feasible material solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills , with the ability to manage complex technical topics with autonomy and sound judgment.
- Strong organizational, communication and stakeholder management skills , with the ability to collaborate across functions and influence decisions in a multicultural environment.
- Proactive, innovation-oriented mindset and the ability to mentor less experienced colleagues and contribute to team capability growth.

Salary Range €50,000 – €70,000 gross annual salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
