Innovation and technologies are at the heart of Fincantieri's corporate strategy. The innovation strategy is based on the complementarity of traditional R&D; tools with Open Innovation approaches ranging from identifying technological trends to targeted scouting, up to structured collaboration with the external ecosystem.
In this context, the Open Innovation Ecosystems & Hubs function oversees and develops relationships with key innovation players, including startups, universities and research centers, clusters and technological districts, with the aim of intercepting the best solutions available on the market and leveraging them within the organization.
The function ensures the connection between internal technological needs and external innovation offerings, facilitating the meeting between Business Units and the most qualified partners, enabling experimentation paths, co-development, and technological adoption.
In support of these activities, the function also manages two international Innovation Antennas in Silicon Valley and Seoul respectively: physical presences in global innovation ecosystems that allow close monitoring of emerging trends, developing strategic relationships, and intercepting high-potential opportunities for the Group.
In this context,
we are looking for a resource to contribute to the management and acceleration of a pipeline of pilot projects and co-development initiatives in technologically strategic areas, and to accelerate technological evolution and energy transition – for example through alternative fuels, new materials, and propulsion systems – and digital with a focus on robotics, AI, and cybersecurity at Group level.
The selected individual will contribute to the end-to-end management of innovation projects, ensuring the correct progress of initiatives and contributing to the transformation of promising solutions into scalable and industrializable applications.
The position will be based at the Innovation, Information Technology & Digital Directorate in Trieste, but an placement at the General Directorate headquarters in Milan can also be considered.
Activities
- Managing a complex pipeline of pilot projects and co-developments, ensuring compliance with timelines, objectives, and deliverables;
- Supporting the project start-up phase through:
- Collection and formalization of requirements (business and technical)
- Definition of the Statement of Work (SoW)
- Structuring of the project plan, milestones, and KPIs
- Coordinating internal and external stakeholders, ensuring continuous alignment on objectives and work progress, on project performance, managing criticalities and corrective actions;
- Fostering the integration of developed solutions with company processes and needs;
- Contributing to the evaluation of scaling and industrialization opportunities for projects, supporting the transition from pilot phase to large-scale implementation;
- Preparing reports and updates for management.
Requirements
- Master's degree in engineering or STEM disciplines
- Experience in Project Management, preferably on technological or innovation projects
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders
- Structured approach to project management (planning, tracking, risk management)
- Strong results orientation and scalability of solutions
- Excellent relational and communication skills
- Problem-solving attitude and analytical thinking
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in Open Innovation contexts, startups, or collaboration with technological ecosystems
- Exposure to topics such as energy and digital transition (robotics, AI, cybersecurity)
- Familiarity with the maritime sector
Ideal experience:
- 2-5 years in:
- Managerial roles in R&D;/Product Development areas in industrial contexts
- Management consulting firms
- Project management, innovation, or technological development roles within a corporate setting
Compensation & Benefits Package
- For this position, the initial gross annual salary will not be less than € 39,000.
