As a Senior Software Test Engineer, you will drive the testing strategy and execution for FactoryTalk® OptixTM, a modern visualization platform that accelerates value delivery through innovative technologies, scalable deployment, and seamless integration with industrial systems. You will act as the technical reference for testing activities, owning the test infrastructure (including hardware and PLC-based environments), defining best practices, and guiding other test engineers across global teams. This role combines deep technical expertise, hands?on hardware/PLC capability, and leadership in test strategy and execution. You will report to the Test & Technical Project Manager and have a hybrid schedule working in Verona, Italy.
Your Responsibilities:
Define and guide the test strategy for the product, across functional, integration, system, and performance testing
Be a Test Lead,
coordinating testing activities within the team and across global teams
Mentor other test engineers, promoting technical growth and best practices
Represent testing in architectural discussions, design reviews, and release planning
Identify inefficiencies in the testing process and lead improvement projects
Manage the test infrastructure, including hardware setups, lab environments, and network configurations
Configure PLCs and industrial devices used for validation
Design and evolve end-to-end test environments that reflect real industrial scenarios
Ensure reliability, scalability, and reproducibility of hardware?based test setups
Guide the evolution of the test automation framework (Python, Squish)
Ensure appropriate test coverage of new and changed functionality
Lead integration of automated tests in the CI/CD pipeline
Define quality gates and metrics to support release decisions
Collaborate with developers, architects, product managers, and global teams to ensure product quality
Support requirements analysis and contribute to architectural decisions from a testability perspective
Communicate testing status, risks, and quality metrics to partners
Essentials - You Will Have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
7+ years of experience in software testing, including automation
Experience designing and building test strategies for complex software products
Solid programming skills in Python (and familiarity with C++, C#, or .NET)
Hands?on experience with PLCs and industrial hardware configuration
Experience managing test environments, including hardware, networks, and virtualization (VMWare)
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test integration
Experience with Agile/Scrum and SAFe
Experience being a technical leader / test lead
English skills
Preferred - You Might Also Have:
Direct experience in the Industrial Automation industry
Experience with HMI and Visualization software testing
Experience with distributed systems, scalability, and performance testing
Experience leading test teams
Knowledge of modular software architecture and testability principles
Experience with Squish or similar UI automation tools

The salary range for this position is between 37,600,00 – 56,400,00 EUR annual, this includes all bonuses.
