We’re looking for a Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Project Engineering team and play a key role in designing and delivering fully automated machining systems for our customers.

What You’ll Do
As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you’ll lead the design and execution of automation systems that integrate Makino machining centers with robotics and material handling solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

Design automation equipment such as end‑of‑arm tooling, conveyors, safety systems, and system layouts

Perform mechanical analysis (tolerance stack‑ups, stress, deflection, etc.)

Conduct robot reach studies and support system layout development

Partner with internal engineering teams, suppliers, and customers from concept through final system acceptance

Support fabrication, assembly, and troubleshooting of automated systems

Lead design reviews and contribute to project cost estimates and proposals

Troubleshoot technical issues and provide practical, cost‑effective solutions

Stay current on emerging automation technologies and recommend design improvements

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (preferred)



or equivalent technical experience

7+ years of mechanical design experience, including automation systems

Strong experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)

Background in designing machinery, automation systems, or robotic integration

Knowledge of pneumatic systems, mechanical components, and system design

Familiarity with industry standards (OSHA, ANSI, ISO, CE, RIA)

Experience troubleshooting and solving complex engineering problems

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment

Strong communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally

Willingness to travel up to 10%
