La Scuola International School – Milano is seeking a creative, skilled and passionate tempo parziale Music Teacher (8 to 10 hours per week) to develop engaging and meaningful musical experiences for children. At La Scuola, we see music not simply as a specialist subject, but as one of the many languages through which children can explore, communicate, create, collaborate and express their thinking.

The Music Teacher will work closely with classroom teachers, atelierists and the pedagogical team, creating opportunities for children to explore sound, rhythm, voice, movement, instruments, improvisation, composition and performance, while building interdisciplinary connections with classroom inquiries and projects. Teacher will support a developmentally appropriate, child-centered curriculum grounded in methodologies such as Orff-Schulwerk and Kodály.

Schedule: The teacher is expected to be onsite for in-person instruction as agreed upon with Principal and Leadership Team.

Role & Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate music learning experiences across classes and grade levels
- develop musical skills through singing, rhythm, movement, listening, instrumental exploration, improvisation, composition and performance;




- encourage children to experiment with sound and develop their own musical ideas and creations;
- foster creativity, curiosity, collaboration and confidence through music;
- balance the progressive development of musical skills with opportunities for exploration and creative expression;
- collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to create meaningful interdisciplinary connections;
- contribute to an educational environment inspired by the Reggio Emilia Approach, recognising music as one of the hundred languages of children;
- contribute to inquiry-based learning and, where appropriate, connect music learning with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework;
- observe and document children's musical learning processes;
- differentiate learning experiences to respond to different abilities, interests and learning needs;
- create opportunities for students to share and celebrate their musical learning through performances, assemblies, exhibitions, projects and community events;
- contribute to the care and organisation of musical instruments, resources and learning spaces;
- participate actively in planning meetings, professional development and the wider life of the school;
- build positive and respectful relationships with students, colleagues and families.
- communicate effectively and in a timely manner with students, parents, and colleagues.
- plan and support school performances, including Winter and Spring concerts.
- perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Music or equivalent, or Early Childhood Education and / or Child Development Certificate
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching in preschool preferably in a Reggio Emilia-inspired environment and / or International Baccalaureate framework.
- Bilingual and bi-literate in Italian and English with native or near-native Italian proficiency a plus
- Experience teaching or facilitating musical experiences with children in a private school environment
- Strong musicianship and confidence working with voice, rhythm and musical instruments.
- Ability to design engaging, creative and developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to inclusive, child-centred education.
- Ability to work effectively within an international and collaborative environment.

Additional Information

Start date: Immediate Salary: 900 - 1,000 euro per month for 8-10 hours per week.

Candidates must be authorized to work in Italy. Prior to beginning work and as a condition of employment in order to comply with the law, all employees must provide documentation to prove eligibility to work in Italy.

Final candidates will need to pass Background Clearance (Fedina Penale) and a physical exam, and provide a recent copy of a negative Tuberculosis (TB) test and other immunization records.
