The Role
Within our R&D; area, we are looking for a Industrial Design Manager who will report to the R&D; Manager and lead the design development of new products, as well as the evolution of existing product ranges, ensuring consistency across aesthetics, functionality, ergonomics and user experience.
The Industrial Design Manager will contribute directly to the creation of designs, concepts, aesthetic surfaces, renders and development packages, working closely with R&D;, Product, Marketing, Strategy, headquarters, external agencies and design studios.
This person will act as the internal point of reference for translating concepts, design language and guidelines defined by the Group into concrete design solutions that are consistent with LELIT’s positioning and suitable for industrialisation.
The person we are looking for will:
- lead the design development of new products and the evolution of existing product ranges, in line with product strategy, brand positioning and Group guidelines;
- translate concepts, design language and aesthetic directions defined by headquarters into coherent and feasible design solutions;
- develop product concepts, aesthetic proposals, visible surfaces, formal details, CMF solutions and UX/UI hypotheses;
- create or supervise 3D CAD models related to aesthetic surfaces, visible parts and components relevant to the user experience;
- produce renders, visualisations and presentation materials for internal validations, reviews with headquarters, stakeholder alignment and project decision-making;
- coordinate design studios, external agencies and component suppliers, ensuring output quality, adherence to briefs, consistency with guidelines and timely progress;
- act as the operational and design interface with headquarters, receiving directions, concepts, feedback, constraints and Group standards, and ensuring their correct implementation in local projects;
- collaborate with R&D; to ensure technical feasibility, manufacturability, mechanical/electronic integration and consistency between design and engineering constraints;
- collaborate with Marketing and Strategy to ensure alignment between design, target users, product positioning, user experience and value proposition;
- contribute to the definition of the user experience and user interface for displays, control systems, panels, knobs, buttons and physical interactions with the product;
- oversee CMF development, including the definition of colours, materials, finishes, textures, surface treatments and overall product consistency.
You are the right fit if you have:
- a degree in Industrial Design or an equivalent qualification;
- at least 6 years of experience in the development of industrialised products within manufacturing environments;
- hands-on experience in CAD modelling of aesthetic surfaces, preferably with SolidWorks;
- experience in CMF development, including Colour, Material and Finish;
- experience in defining UX/UI for physical products, with a strong focus on human-machine interaction, readability, ergonomics and perceived quality;
- knowledge of Design for Manufacturing principles, including injection-moulded plastics, sheet metal and die casting;
- experience working with external agencies, design studios and suppliers, with the ability to define briefs, lead reviews, provide structured feedback and ensure output quality;
- the ability to interface with a headquarters or international corporate functions, receiving guidelines, feedback and design constraints;
- autonomy, functional leadership and the ability to influence stakeholders;
- fluent knowledge of Italian (C1);
- good knowledge of English (B2), required for interaction with headquarters.
