The research program is aimed at developing innovative surface treatments for steels to be employed for hydrogen transport applications,



with the objective of reducing hydrogen permeation and mitigating hydrogen embrittlement, thereby enhancing the reliability and durability of hydrogen infrastructure. xysqume The research activities will begin with a review of the state of the art on the mechanisms governing hydrogen–steel interactions, with particular emphasis on hydrogen embrittlement phenomena in the different types of steels employed in hydrogen transport infrastructure.
