Hauptaufgaben Incumbent serves as a fire protection specialist with responsibility for performing phases of the total fire protection and prevention program.
Work requires knowledge of firefighting, fire prevention theory and techniques, knowledge of fixed and mobile firefighting equipment operation, and the ability to carry out prevention and protection program and operations.
Uses an advanced knowledge of fire prevention and protection methods and a knowledge of mission equipment, facilities, and priorities to identify effectively and reduce or eliminate fire hazards without impairing mission objectives.
An extensive knowledge of building construction, National Fire Codes, directives, Army regulations, and Host Nation regulations is applied.
Conducts training for firefighters in basic fire inspection methods for ensuring operability of life safety systems (i.e. fire, security systems).
The incumbent represents the division at meetings to coordinate system integration to the Emergency Communication Center and response computer systems.
Keeps abreast of changing technology and continually updates systems accordingly.
Manages and updates the department Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and information management programs (Emergency Reporting).
Administers the division physical fitness program and provides statistics on individual and company improvements.
Performs technical review of contractor-prepared designs and specifications for fire suppression/detection systems and mass notification systems interconnection.
Design reviews range from small renovations to large, complex, multimillion-dollar new construction.
The employee decides, due to design and scope, if the project completion includes mission critical functions.
Meets with architect-engineer and/or the user to discuss and gain acceptance during reviews.




Incumbent performs acceptance tests of varied fire alarm systems and sprinkler systems in conformance with Army and NFPA Standards.
Conducts periodic and special inspections of principal high hazard buildings on and off post in order to determine adequacy of life safety systems and implement appropriate regulations with respect to compliance with prescribed methods and codes and requirements peculiar to these types of facilities.
Maintains a thorough knowledge of all alarm, detection, and suppression systems in order to conduct acceptance tests as required.
Checks all Emergency Communication equipment and keeps accurate accountability of all division communication equipment.
Troubleshoots immediate wireless communication problems to determine the most rapid course of action to restore critical communication links and services.
Develops/updates department Standard Operating Procedures, in areas of expertise, based on direction and guidance from the Assistant Fire Chief or Fire Chief.
Responds to emergencies during duty hours in order to observe deficiencies in procedures or techniques requiring correction through follow-on training.
Responds to emergency incidents, if requested, and assists as directed.
Investigates reportable fires to determine origin and cause.
NOTE: The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, bending, crouching and stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities while performing inspections or demonstrations during training sessions.
Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from ***** to *****, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.
Qualifikationsanforderungen MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U.S Office of Personnel Management, as summarized below.
EXPERIENCE:



Applicants must have one year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-03 grade level.
Specialized Experience is experience that demonstrated the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.
Such duties may include (1) controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial, volunteer, or governmental fire department or brigade; (2) rescue operations; (3) detection, reduction, or elimination of potential fire hazards; (4) operation of fire communications equipment; (5) controlling hazardous materials incidents and/or (6) developing, implementing, or providing training in fire protection and prevention.
NOTE: A good knowledge of the English language, both oral and written, is required to write reports, Standard Operating Procedures, and to prepare training classes.
HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED: In order to qualify for this position, your application must provide sufficient experience to meet the requirements of the position and you must meet the aforementioned certifications/licensing requirements.

Auswahlkriterien auswählen Applicants: - are required to be certified IAW DoDI ****** Firefighter Certification Program as a Fire Inspector II, Public Fire, Life Safety Educator, and possess the HAZMAT Awareness certification; - must possess a valid Italian driver's license type "B" and the equivalent military driver's license.

Beschäftigungsbedingungen Within 12 months, incumbent must be able to obtain and then maintain the Fire Inspector III (or alternatively Fire Inspector Edition ****), Fire Instructor II, and Plans Examiner certifications.
Incumbent must be able to maintain a valid Italian driver's license type "B" and the equivalent military driver's license, and to pass a firefighter physical examination annually.
