Company description The CIM Competence Center is the national reference hub for technology transfer and for the dissemination of skills related to the manufacturing and service industries.
CIM is a network composed of Politecnico di Torino and the University of Turin, together with 22 partner companies, making the expertise of industrial leaders available to companies that want to innovate and remain highly competitive in the market.
CIM provides specialized services on enabling digital technologies for Manufacturing 4.0 and offers strategic and operational support for industrial development through the dissemination of services and advanced training courses for company managers.
The Junior Process Simulation Engineer will join CIM’s technical team and contribute to the modelling and optimization of production and logistics processes. The position is open to recent graduates and junior professionals with up to three years of experience.
Main activities
- Develop discrete-event simulation models for production, logistics, and material-handling processes.
- Collect and analyse process data to build, calibrate, and validate simulation models.
- Use Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation as the main modelling platform.
- Evaluate alternative scenarios involving layouts, capacity, resources, material flows, and operating policies, also considering Lean Manufacturing and World Class Manufacturing principles.
- Identify bottlenecks and performance improvements, translating results into clear technical recommendations.
- Prepare model documentation and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and technology partners.
Requirements
· Master’s degree in management, Mechanical, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
· Interest in process simulation, manufacturing systems, logistics, and digital twin technologies.
· Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to interpret process data, production flows, layouts, and operational requirements.
· Good communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn.
· Proficiency in Italian and a good knowledge of English.
· Excellent knowledge of Italian, both written and spoken.
· Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken.
· Excellent proficiency with the main office automation tools.
Optional qualifications
- Academic or professional experience with Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.
- Previous academic or professional experience with similar process-simulation software, such as DELMIA, AnyLogic, FlexSim, Simio, Arena, WITNESS, or other discrete-event simulation platforms.
- Knowledge of manufacturing, warehousing, intralogistics, or material-handling systems, together with familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, World Class Manufacturing (WCM), 5S, Kaizen, value-stream mapping, or continuous-improvement methods.
- Basic programming & data-analysis skills.
· Experience in technological innovation and/or technology transfer. · Enabling digital technologies for industry.
· Knowledge of IT and OT infrastructures.
· Project management skills.
· Previous experience in delivering specialized training.
· Knowledge of public funding mechanisms at local, national and European level.
Location
· Turin office or Cuneo office.
Experience The selection is open to profiles with different levels of seniority, including recent graduates and professionals with consolidated experience. Professional experience relevant to the role, technical skills possessed, and the level of autonomy and responsibility developed will be assessed.
Compensation and contract type
Expected gross annual salary range for the position: €28,000–€42,000.
Employment classification under the Italian “Metalmeccanico” standard contract.
Placement within the salary range and the corresponding employment level will be determined on the basis of objective and neutral criteria, including relevant professional experience, technical skills, level of autonomy, responsibility and ability to manage complex projects.
