- Advanced Control Systems Lead, you will respond to the Head of Instrumentation, Control and Telecommunication Engineering Department (SMAUT) and be part of the ENERGY CARRIERS (ENCAR) business line, focused mainly on onshore plants and floaters.
As Automation &
- Advanced Control Systems Lead, you will be involved in project execution, starting from the estimation phase up to the detail design development and engineering site activities of standard Automation (DCS, ESD, FGS, MMS, CCS, …), Advanced Control System (ALMS, APC, PIMS, OTS, CPMS, …) and New Digital Technologies (Process &
- Asset Performance Optimizer, Digital Twin, …). You will lead and coordinate all engineering activities related to Automation &
- Advanced Control Systems within the assigned project, ensuring full compliance with technical requirements, project management guidelines, budget constraints, schedule targets and quality standards.
How can you support us? Here below your responsibilities:
- Keep full monitoring and control of the project scope and execution. Verify the EHRS project budget and confirm alignment with project targets. Timely detect potential schedule issues, assess workload distribution and plan resource allocation according to the execution strategy.
- Review, analyze and endorse Client technical documentation and requirements, identifying contractual criticalities.
Develop Control
Systems technical specification and architecture; ensure proper development of block diagrams, control narratives, sequence flow charts, cause and effect diagrams, logic diagrams, instrument loop diagrams; ensure proper management of the project Control Systems I/O’s databases.
- Prepare the technical requisitions both for material and services, perform the technical alignment of bidders, prepare and finalize the technical evaluations.
- Monitor and control vendor control systems detail design development, ensuring prompt verification of vendor design documentation (including functional design specifications, drawings, procedures and manuals) and guaranteeing compliance with project requirements and project schedule.
Attend and perform Control Systems FAT/IFAT and SAT, witnessing the compliance of vendor provided systems with project requirements.
- Ensure adequate support to other functions and disciplines by actively participating in multidisciplinary reviews, coordinating and expediting the collection of required suppliers information, and providing technical evaluations, cost/schedule estimates and risk assessments to ensure that all engineering decisions are effectively communicated and properly implemented across the project organization.
- Plan and coordinate both internal and external activities. Coordinate and ensure the execution of specialist engineering activities, monitoring progress against the agreed schedule, analyzing deviations, and identifying and implementing the necessary corrective actions to achieve Project objectives.
- Optimize Control Systems design ensuring minimal cost and complexity in compliance with the contractual and safety requirements.
Perform site engineering activities during construction and commissioning phases.
What are we looking for? Education: Technical diploma, bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in STEM discipline. Experience: At least 10 years of experience in Automation and Advanced Control Systems Engineering with at least 5 Years in the role of Leader, within the Energy Sector: Power plants, Oil &
- Gas, Petrochemical, Renewable or Floaters.

Technical/IT Skills
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills by fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and proactive team environment. Motivate team members, promote open communication, support knowledge sharing, and facilitate constructive interactions with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment, accountability, and a positive contribution to project objectives.
- Interface himself/herself independently with the other engineering disciplines and with the suppliers, in order to identify optimized solutions from a technical/economical point of view.
- Independently capture, analyze and solve interdisciplinary issues affecting control systems scope of work, that may occur during the project activities, properly involving other disciplines/functions.
- Detailed knowledge of Control and Safety Systems codes and standards both domestic and international, with direct experience with Control and Safety Systems (i.e. DCS, ESD/SIS, FGS, PLCs, MMS, CCS, RTU, SCADA).
- Knowledge of OT Cyber Security requirement for Industrial Automation and Control Systems (IEC 62443).
- Knowledge of main digital environment used for plant design development and material management in Energy Industry (Aveva, Hexagon, Autodesk).
- Strong attitude for working in highly digitized environments, maximizing the use of new technologies to streamline operations.
