SPORTECH ACADEMY
Milano
The short version
Sportech Academy is an international summer school in Italy, taught entirely in English. Our 2027 programme spans engineering (motorsport, aerospace, biomedical), health and life sciences (medicine, cosmetic sciences, agrifoodtech), design (automotive, architecture, product), business (luxury goods, sports management), fashion, music and esports for students aged 15–18, plus an elite football experience for younger students, university terms for undergraduates, and tailor-made programmes for schools and groups. Every programme is built with partners who represent genuine excellence in their field — the kind of access families simply can’t buy on their own.
We’ve welcomed students from 75+ countries, with the United States as our strongest market. Revenue has grown almost threefold year on year, and our 2027 plan is to do it again. We’re led by a team with a proven track record of building and scaling international education businesses.
Roughly half our business runs through a network of agents and partner schools (B2B), and half goes direct to families (B2C). This role owns the marketing behind both — with the biggest opportunity on the direct side.
Here’s the honest picture: today, this is a team of one — and that’s you. No direct reports yet, no agency on retainer. You’ll set the strategy and also run the campaigns, write the emails, edit the video and fix the landing page yourself. Once the function proves itself, this becomes the role that builds and leads a marketing team — but that’s chapter two, and it’s earned by chapter one.
This is a role for someone who wants to be part of fast, ambitious growth and finds that energising rather than daunting. We’re moving quickly, the targets are bold, and the company will look materially different in two years. If that’s the environment you’ve been looking for, this is where you’ll do the best work of your career. If you’d rather join something already built and settled, this isn’t the right moment.
Why this role exists
Marketing here has always been a side project for people whose main job was something else — it’s never had a dedicated owner with the mandate and budget to build it properly. Which is exactly why the opportunity is so large. Paid search and AI search are barely tapped in a category where almost nobody bids seriously. Our social channels are close to a blank page. We’re sitting on years of enquiry data that’s never been turned into a lifecycle programme. And we sell something that films beautifully: teenagers doing extraordinary things in Italy, every summer.
We’re not looking for someone to hand a task list to. We want someone who reads all of this and already has opinions about what they’d do first.
What you’ll own
1. Paid search and AI search — the biggest lever
Google Ads end to end: campaign structure, keywords, ad copy, landing pages, budget phasing across the September–May booking season, and solid conversion tracking before a euro is spent. You’ll own cost per enquiry and cost per enrolment — and know when to pause a campaign the moment its programme sells out.
Then AI search, where we want to get ahead early. Parents and school counsellors are already asking ChatGPT, Gemini,
Perplexity and Google AI Overviews things like “best summer programme in Italy for a 16-year-old interested in engineering.” Nobody in our category has claimed that ground yet. We intend to.
2. Website — WordPress, hands-on
Our site is our shop window and lead-capture engine. A proper landing page per programme, page speed, tracking, forms, on-page SEO, an always-current catalogue. You’ll build and edit pages yourself — briefing an agency to change a headline isn’t this job.
3. CRM and lifecycle — the real thing, not a newsletter
We use Klaviyo and currently under-use it badly. You’ll bring segmentation by programme, market, channel and funnel stage; automated flows across the whole journey — enquiry, application, deposit, balance, pre-arrival, post-programme, referral; a published annual communication calendar for families and partners; win-back campaigns on years of past enquirers; and lead scoring and attribution that actually holds up.
4. B2B marketing — half our business
Our agents and partner schools are a sales force we market to, not a channel we can afford to ignore. You’ll own the B2B side end to end: the DEM programme and partner nurture calendar, programme brochures, price lists, one-pagers, presentations and playbooks, campaign material for fairs and webinars, and the recruitment campaigns that bring new partners in. The better equipped they are, the more they sell — so B2B materials need to be just as strong as anything we put in front of a family.
5. Content — two audiences, two different jobs
A teenager has to want it; a parent has to pay for it and trust us with their child for a summer. You’ll need to make things yourself, not only commission them: shoot and edit short-form video, write for both audiences, and plan in-programme content capture ahead of the season rather than improvising during it.
6. Social — Meta and TikTok
Meta rebuilt properly, and TikTok built from the ground up, where our audience actually is. Content calendar, publishing, community management, paid social, creator and student-generated content — with the same discipline as paid search: spend follows availability, and stops when a programme is full.
7. Reporting
A monthly report to the CEO: spend by channel, cost per lead, cost per enrolment, B2C vs. B2B performance, revenue attributed. Building attribution we can genuinely trust is part of the job, not an afterthought.
Your first year
- First 30 days — an audit of channels, site, CRM and data; conversion tracking live; your own 12-month plan, with budget and targets, on the CEO’s desk.
- By 31 December 2026 — paid search live across the priority programmes; Meta rebuilt and TikTok launched; past enquirers segmented and in active flows; the annual B2C and B2B communication calendar published, with partners fully equipped for the season.
US families are deep in research by January, so this is a real deadline, not an aspiration.
- By 31 May 2027 — strong growth on the direct side without losing a step in B2B; attribution you can defend for every booking of the season; a content library captured to plan, ready to sell the next one.
What you bring
Three to five years in digital or growth marketing — ideally somewhere you carried a number, not just a content calendar.
- Google Ads, hands-on at account level: you build the campaigns, write the ads, read the search terms and set up tracking yourself
- WordPress, hands-on: pages, plugins, forms, and enough HTML/CSS to fix things without waiting on anyone
- Marketing automation: segments and multi-step flows built in Klaviyo, HubSpot, ActiveCampaign, Brevo or similar — and you can tell us what they earned
- Content and short-form video you can show us: a portfolio, a channel, an account — something you made that performed
- Paid social: Meta Ads Manager, properly; TikTok either done already or clearly ready to pick up fast
- Analytics: GA4, UTM discipline, and a simple attribution model you can build and defend
- AI-native: you already use LLMs daily to work at the speed of a much larger team — we’ll ask you how
- Fluent Italian and English, used every day with families, agents and partners
- Authorised to work in Italy — we’re not able to sponsor a visa or work permit for this role
- Independent, and a maker: you’ll get context, budget, access and a direct line to the CEO — not a task list. Working solo means the plan and the execution are the same person, so ruthless prioritising matters more than trying to do everything at once
Nice to have
Experience marketing to and through a partner or reseller network, not only to end customers; a background in education, youth travel or hospitality — anywhere the buyer is a parent; experience marketing across several countries at once, the US above all; Spanish, Portuguese or Turkish; SEO beyond the basics, including structured data; comfortable in Canva, Figma or Adobe, enough to produce clean materials without a designer.
This might not be the right fit if…
Your background is mainly brand and communications, and performance has always felt like someone else’s department; you’ve only worked inside a large team where paid, content, CRM and web were four separate people; you do your best work with tasks clearly broken down for you; you’re looking to manage a team or work mainly through agencies from day one; or you’d rather join a company that’s already finished growing.
What we offer
A very small team, a Milan office, and a company in the middle of international expansion. You’ll work with the CEO every day, hold real budget and decision rights from week one, and see your work move revenue in weeks rather than quarters. There’s no layer between you and the outcome.
And to be straight with you: no team, no agency, intense spring and summer months, and processes still being written as we scale. In exchange, the marketing function of this company will be whatever you make it — and when it grows, it grows around the person who built it.
