Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB's success through technology, product, and system development in power electronics. Each day, you will apply your expertise independently and as part of a cross-functional R&D; team, identifying and implementing innovative solutions for demanding switching applications.

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact, as you will be accountable for:
- Designing and developing advanced power electronic systems for Solid State Circuit Breakers, including semiconductor stacks, gate driver circuits, and protection schemes for DC applications.




- Conducting circuit-level and system-level simulations to evaluate SSCB performance across diverse operating scenarios, including fault conditions and transient events. Contributing to thermal analysis and power loss estimation to support the thermal design and long-term reliability of SSCB hardware.
- Selecting and qualifying power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC/GaN) and passive components, including collaboration with suppliers for technical validation.
- Leading prototype development activities: building hardware demonstrators, defining test plans, executing functional and safety validation, and analyzing results. Troubleshooting complex hardware and design issues during development and post-deployment phases, implementing effective corrective actions.
- Supporting PCB layout design using Altium Designer, with focus on insulation voltage, signal integrity, and EMC compliance. Preparing detailed technical documentation, design reports, and test procedures through
