Senior Python & AI Backend Developer (Freelance) — Milan area

We're looking for a senior Python backend developer to join a freelance project through Shakers, hybrid in the Milan area (2 days/week on-site in Segrate).

What you'll work on:
Backend services in Python + FastAPI
Agentic, multi-turn RAG architectures
LlamaIndex and Gemini for retrieval-augmented generation
PostgreSQL (pgvector + full-text search) and Redis as the data layer

What we're looking for:
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field
3+ years of backend development experience with Python and FastAPI
Hands-on experience with LlamaIndex and Gemini
Experience with PostgreSQL (pgvector + FTS) and Redis
Proven experience designing agentic, multi-turn RAG architectures
Excellent English
Good Italian (B2 minimum)
Available 2 days/week on-site in Segrate (Milan area)
