- BACKGROUND

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), a highly prestigious, reputable & world’s largest humanitarian organization, operating in more than 120 countries and territories, bringing life-saving assistance in emergencies, building pathways to peace, stability and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters and the impact of climate change and supporting sustainable and resilient livelihoods for a world with zero hunger. The Management Services Division (MSD) seeks digital solutions to meet the organization’s growing demands and drive digital transformation initiatives. The Senior Digital Manager will work within the MSDB branch to support digital transformation projects critical for the efficient functioning of various service lines, including Accommodation, Mobility, Aviation, Asset Management, Facilities, Fleet, Travel Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, and Environmental Sustainability.

PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

We are looking for an experienced Digital Manager to oversee the development of current and new digital solutions to innovate service provisioning, simplify business processes, increase accountability, create efficiency gains, and foster a data-driven decision-making culture.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management:

- Manage digital transformation projects supporting business functions in formulating Business Requirements for the digitalization of services through process analysis and business case proposals.
- Harmonize requirements from various business lines to achieve standardization, reusability of components and economy of scale, reducing lead time.
- Coordinate the pool of external developers per service line across WFP internal functions and UN Agencies, monitor performance and ensure knowledge sharing and retention within WFP.





User Experience and Design

- Ensure customer journey excellence with a consistent UX/UI tailored to service uniqueness and stakeholder needs.
- Cooperate with solution designers and system architects to ensure digital designs cover business requirements and are future proof.

Customer Focus

- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering digital solutions that meet user needs and expectations.
- Act as a point of contact for stakeholders to address concerns and gather feedback for continuous improvement.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting

- Monitor the performance of digital solutions and projects, using KPIs and metrics to measure success.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project progress, performance, and outcomes.

Documentation and Compliance

- Maintain updated digital solution documentation, including dependencies, connections mapping, user access and roles, data matrix, and product roadmap.
- Ensure development follows WFP guidelines and directives, aligning with relevant stakeholders.
- Support the development and rollout of security measures, including penetration tests, vulnerability scans, disaster recovery simulations, load tests, and cloud infrastructure analysis.

Data Management

- Ensure a common approach to data availability for internal and external reporting tools and on integration layers for internal and external data exchange.

Budget and Resource Management

- Maintain a master development plan with forecast and actual costs to inform budget planning and optimization.
- Support WFP IT technical supervision and internal approval governance.

Business Continuity and Risk Management

- Interface with TEC for platform fault preparedness to ensure business continuity of services.
- Mitigate reputational risks using innovative tools and processes to prevent platform defaults.

Coordination and Collaboration

- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment of digital initiatives with organizational goals.
- Foster a collaborative environment across various business lines to enhance digital project outcomes.
- Engage with UN agencies to leverage best practices and integrate solutions across the wider UN system.

As this position will be remotely based, in order to be eligible for this position, the candidate must have a consistent and reliable internet connection from their remote location. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education:

- Completion of an advanced University degree in Information Technology, Business administration, Liberal Arts or related field, or First University Degree in a related field with additional years of relevant professional experience.

Experience:

- Minimum 5 years post graduate experience with project management.
- Proven track record of planning, leading and executing related projects.
- Experience in a corporate environment.
- Experience in coordination with stakeholders and guidelines harmonization.
- Experience in gathering business and user requirements.
- Ability to manage budget, resources and risks.
- Previous experience in working within the UN system is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills:

Technology Awareness

- Proven experience as digital manager.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and organize large amounts of data.
- Has managed large digital transformation projects requiring innovative recommendations and approaches.

Communication and Teamwork
- Ability to compile and organize findings and data retrieved before presenting it to management.




- Working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve goals.
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills to translate complex problems using non-technical terms.
- Ability to manage budget, resources and risks.
- Ability to manage Stakeholders also at senior levels.

- Knowledge of Product and Project Management methodologies and tools.
- Experience gathering business and user requirements.
- Clear goals development consistent with agreed strategies
- Priority activities identification and adjustment as required.
- Appropriate time and resources allocation for completing tasks.

- Ownership of responsibilities and honoring of commitments.
- Output delivery under responsibility within the prescribed time.

Language

- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and inwriting, in fluent English, with the ability to present technical concepts in concise business language to multiple audiences
