The Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team is seeking engineers who can deploy, operate, and maintain the facilities (electrical/mechanical systems, control/fire-fighting systems, etc.) and manage related projects at our large-scale, high-density data centers. As a member of this gender and culturally diverse team, you will have a chance to work with exciting technology in a dynamic environment with expanding opportunities. This is a Mechanical and Electrical (M&E;) engineering role, managing infrastructure such as diesel generators, switch gear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, fire detection systems and building automation systems.

You will report to the Data Center Engineering Operations Facilities Manager. AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running.

We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.

You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. The applicable collective agreement for this role is CBA for employees of Telecommunication Sector.

The position is classified at level 6 or above, depending on the candidate’s skills, competences and experience. As a facility owner team member, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.

Lead by example in implementing and maintaining AWS safety protocols Respond to emergency situations and coordinate with emergency services as needed ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE Operational hands on experience, and deep knowledge with electrical, mechanical, fire protection and control systems, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS’s), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Water treatment systems, Static Transfer Switch (STS), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), Fire Systems and Transformers. Operate, monitor, and maintain fire detection and suppression systems including pre-action systems, VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus),



and other fire protection equipment Draft, review and publish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP) and Method of Procedures (MOP) for in -house activities. Review vendor documentation for preventative maintenance (e.g.

Perform routine inspections and testing of fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, and suppression systems in accordance with AWS standards and local regulations and collaborates with the engineering team, within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) Perform hands-on preventive and corrective maintenance activities on critical infrastructure Execute equipment repairs, replacements, and facility modifications in accordance with AWS standards guidelines. Maintain accurate documentation of all maintenance activities, equipment performance, and system configurations Collaborate with internal AWS teams on capacity planning and infrastructure improvements Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance Respond to alarms and perform emergency troubleshooting and repairs You may train new team members (Drill, Buddy, Mentor) You may participate in business reviews (e.g., Execute and plan work assignments, using maintenance and change management documents, and by reviewing outstanding action items with your Facility Manager and/or Chief Engineer. Take action to make improvements based on operating experience, assist in the creation of process improvement plans, and provide process improvement feedback to site leadership Managing ticketing systems for Preventive and Corrective Maintenance (CMMS, Incident management tool) Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required (weight limits in accordance with health & safety regulations) SHIFT WORK This is a shift-based position hence availability to work rotating shifts is required for this position.

That’s why you’ll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional. 4+ years of hands-on experience with critical facility operations and maintenance Professional or formal Electrical Certification or Apprentice/trades certified or diploma in an Electrical field Demonstrate advanced electrical competencies (Practice & Theory) and strong knowledge of mechanical systems (Mechanical, HVAC systems, Controls) Knowledge of fire detection and suppression systems Very good command of English (written and spoken) Driving license valid in Italy (required for shift-based schedule Availability to work in shifts Data Center/mission critical engineering experience Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and monitoring platforms Hands-on experience with fire protection systems including pre-action, VESDA, and gaseous suppression systems Experience performing direct maintenance and repairs on critical infrastructure equipment Experience working in shift-based operations environments Willing to travel between data center sites, and internationally if required Experience leading technical projects or initiatives Demonstrated experience mentoring or training technical staff We make recruiting decisions based on your experience and skills.
