ppServe as a Non-medical Clinical Counselor within the Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP). The primary purpose of this position is to provide nonmedical clinical counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups on family dynamics, parent-child interaction, couples' communication, adjustment to commonly occurring personal and family issues/circumstances, adjustment to military life, and psycho-educational training programs. Knowledge of the military lifestyle that furnished the employee with an understanding of the specific demands of military lifestyles, such as frequent separations, and high stress working environments that have an extensive impact on individuals and their families. /p /brul /brliManages assigned cases, consulting with the Region Quality Assurance (QA) personnel or Supervisor where the case is highly complex or presents with special issues. /li /brliAbility to present sensitive, at times controversial, information to groups of people in a clear, concise manner. /li /brliAbility to modify programs to meet the ever changing needs of the active duty military community. /li /brliAbility to recognize, identify and assess mental disorders per the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. /li /brliUnderstanding of, and ability to, apply various counseling approaches such as behavior modification, client-centered, rational-emotive, family systems, brief solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapies. /li /brliKnowledge of dynamics and diagnostic skills necessary for family violence identification, risk assessment, and safety planning. /li /brliKnowledge of family violence treatment principles for victims and offenders. /li /brliKnowledge of group dynamics.



/li /brliKnowledge in the areas of family systems particularly as it relates to patterns of abusive behavior and abuse response, substance abuse, human behavior, human sexuality, attention deficit disorder, and juvenile delinquency. /li /brliAbility to recognize and define personal and social problems, to independently reach accurate conclusions, and to provide appropriate solutions. /li /brliAbility to effectively interview, and clinically respond to the needs of clients including assessing suicidality, homicidality and substance abuse. /li /brliAbility to communicate orally to interview alleged offenders and victims; to maintain cooperative and professional relationships with law enforcement, Child Protective Services, medical treatment facilities, and senior personnel from commands of offenders and victims; function as a member of interdisciplinary teams and participate in case discussions regarding assessment; make presentations; and to exercise strong facilitation skills for individual and group counseling. /li /brliAbility to communicate orally and/or in writing to develop and prepare case management memos, correspondence, and reports; to document initial assessments, treatment plans, case notes and other FAP, SAIL and clinical documents in FFSMIS; to develop lesson plans for briefing and classroom presentations. /li /brliAbility to present to large groups or people, in a variety of settings, on installations, in the community and aboard navy vessels as appropriate/required. /li /brliKnowledge and ability to use a computer from home/teleworking and a variety of software programs to develop multi-media and virtual presentations and to facilitate work assignments. /li /br /ul /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
