Overview

As a Protection & Control Engineer at ABB, you will lead engineering activities for substation protection and automation projects, ensuring efficient, standards-compliant designs. You’ll act as a design authority for a discipline, coordinating across multidisciplinary teams on both new and retrofit solutions. This full-remote role (preference for Northern California) focuses on delivering technically robust, cost-conscious designs that support reliable, sustainable electrical systems. You will collaborate with project teams to manage materials, documentation, and stakeholder communications, shaping impactful outcomes in a global service context.

Responsabilità

- Lead and support engineering design activities for substation protection & control/automation systems, including planning, coordination and execution of new and retrofit designs




- Develop engineering documentation and analyses (schematics, logic diagrams, layouts, BOMs, reports, calculations) to support compliant system designs
- Manage project materials, design packages, and technical issue resolution; provide status updates to teams, management, partners, and customers
- Ensure safety, standards compliance and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams; participate in training to maintain proficiency

Requisiti fondamentali

- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (Masters preferred)
- 5+ years of protection & control project experience for utility customers
- Ability to read and apply electrical one-lines, schematics and instruction manuals
- Proficiency in Easy Power, SKM Powertools, ETAP, Aspen, and EMTP
- PE License in California
- US work authorization
