OverviewIn this role you will design and develop advanced power electronic systems for Solid State Circuit Breakers, collaborating in a cross-functional R&D; team to deliver robust, high-performance solutions.
You will simulate, validate, and qualify devices and assemblies, drive prototype development, and ensure thermal and electrical reliability.
You will work closely with mechanical and electronic engineers to meet quality, time, and cost targets.
This position offers a chance to influence protective DC power solutions for critical infrastructure and data centers.

ResponsabilitàDesign and develop advanced power electronic systems for SSCBs (semiconductor stacks, gate drivers, protection schemes)
Perform circuit- and system-level simulations across fault and transient conditions
Contribute to thermal analysis and power loss estimation for SSCB hardware
Select and qualify power semiconductor devices and passive components; collaborate with suppliers
Lead prototype development: build hardware, define tests, validate safety and functionality
Troubleshoot complex hardware/design issues and implement corrective actions
Support PCB layout with emphasis on insulation, SI, and EMC
Prepare technical documentation, reports, and test procedures throughout product lifecycle
Collaborate with mechanical/electronic engineers and testing teams to meet milestones




Share knowledge and design guidelines with the engineering team
Drive targets (quality, time, scope, cost) and mitigate technical risks
Communicate effectively in English
Requisiti fondamentaliMaster's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (Power Electronics focus)
At least 5 years of experience in power electronics design and development
Expertise in power semiconductor devices (IGBTs, MOSFETs, SiC/GaN modules) including thermal/electrical characterization
Knowledge of power conversion topologies (DC/DC, inverter, rectifier) and advanced switching for DC applications
Hands-on experience with thermal and electrical simulation tools (PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, Ansys Maxwell, Icepak, SIMetrix)
Experience with PCB design/layout optimization; familiarity with Altium Designer or equivalent; PSPICE experience
Proficiency with lab measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, impedance analyzers)
Familiarity with MATLAB and Python; scripting and numerical computation
Experience in SSCB design, DC power applications; SiC/GaN devices preferred
Knowledge of IEC/UL standards for DC protection/switching and agile R&D; environment
Publications or patents in power electronics considered a plus
Ability to work independently in an agile team
English proficiency
