Within the General Systems & Air Vehicle SW Area,



we are looking for a Software Engineer – AI & Neural Networks Certification for our Turin site.

Main Activities:

The resource will be inserted into the General Systems & Air Vehicle SW operating unit of the Aircraft Division and will contribute to the activities within the competence of the software discipline, with particular reference to the selection, application, automation and qualification of development and verification toolchains aimed at the certification of neural networks in safety-critical software environments.

In particular, the resource will be responsible for:

- Monitoring and sharing with the team the evolution of regulations, standards and guidelines applicable to the use of neural networks in the aeronautical and defense sectors, including AI Act, EASA AI Roadmap, EASA CoDANN, EuroCAE (e.g. ED-76B), ISO/IEC TR 5469 and other applicable regulatory references.

- Supporting the Team Leader in defining hybrid control architectures, integrating decision-making logics and redundant systems based on consolidated approaches with statistical calculation models based on neural networks. The resource will contribute to defining solutions characterized by high modularity, scalability and interchangeability, capable of supporting Agile approaches and effectively responding to different customer needs. Particular attention will be dedicated to defining the Operational Design Domain (ODD) and its codomain, as well as developing validation systems and strategies based, where applicable, on formal methods.

- Analyzing system specifications (e.g. Functional Requirements Document) in order to define implementation and verification strategies for both traditional software and artificial intelligence-based solutions, identifying, selecting and, where necessary, configuring or developing the most appropriate toolchain for each module.

- Defining software specifications (e.g. Software Requirements Specification), architectures, design and implementation, integrating the necessary solutions for the automation of test cases and procedures, with the aim of maximizing efficiency in the development and execution phases of Requirement Based Tests (RBT).

- Designing and implementing automations for the execution of RBTs, distributing verification activities between simulators in a host environment and real platforms.



The resource will use debug and trace systems, including emulators connected via JTAG or trace port, exploiting the potential offered by virtualization and hardware/software-in-the-loop techniques.

- Designing and executing compatibility and adequacy checks of the software with respect to the target platform, with particular attention to evaluating performance and available resources, such as CPU load, timing, Stack, RAM and ROM.

- Contributing to the analysis and resolution of technical problems encountered during development and verification activities, also participating in the management of related configuration changes.

- Collaborating with other company departments involved in the product development, qualification and certification cycle, including System Engineering, Software Quality, Software Configuration, Software Certification, Software Safety, Airworthiness and Verification & Validation (V&V;), contributing to achieving the product qualification and certifiability objectives.

Education:

- Master's degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics.

Required experience level:

- Junior

Technical skills:

- Knowledge of neural networks (design, training, validation and testing).

- Knowledge of programming languages and portability standards (e.g. ONNX).

- Knowledge of compilation and debugging environments for microcontrollers.

- Knowledge of modeling languages such as SySML/UML is opportune.

- Knowledge of modeling tools belonging to the Mathworks suite is opportune.
