BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT

FLOCK (Family Liaison Outreach Community- with or without Kids), is a psychosocial program developed 3 years ago by the Staff Counselling Unit in WFP and shown as an example across the UN System. It aims at strengthening families and communities in the organization in order to prevent, protect, and promote mental health and wellbeing. It builds on extensive research demonstrating the impact positive relationships have on resilience, mental health, and overall health.

Working in the UN System can put Staff’s mental health at risk through highly stressful work environments as well as challenge those positive relationships (separation from family & frequent relocations amongst other factors). The FLOCK program, through the creation of global and local UN communities, including family members and the facilitation of a range of psychosocial activities with and through these communities, aims at mitigating those risks.
