We're looking for a senior Python backend developer to join a freelance project through Shakers, hybrid in the Milan area (2 days/week on-site in Segrate).

What you'll work on: Backend services in Python + FastAPI Agentic, multi-turn RAG architectures LlamaIndex and Gemini for retrieval-augmented generation PostgreSQL (pgvector + full-text search) and Redis as the data layer What we're looking for: ~ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or a related field ~3+ years of backend development experience with Python and FastAPI ~ Hands-on experience with LlamaIndex and Gemini ~ Experience with PostgreSQL (pgvector + FTS) and Redis ~ Proven experience designing agentic, multi-turn RAG architectures ~ Excellent xrdztoy English ~ Good Italian (B2 minimum) ~ Available 2 days/week on-site in Segrate (Milan area) This is a freelance role via Shakers, a European tech talent marketplace connecting independent professionals with companies across Portugal, Italy, Spain, and the UK.
