# Job Description:
Leonardo is an international industrial group, one of the main global realities in Aerospace, Defense and Security that creates multi-domain technological capabilities in the Helicopter, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Electronics, Cyber Security and Space sectors. With over 60,000 employees worldwide, the company has a solid industrial presence in Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, the United States, and operates in 150 countries also through controlled companies, joint ventures and participations. A protagonist of the main strategic programs at a global level, it is a technological and industrial partner of Governments, Defense Administrations, Institutions and businesses. In 2024, Leonardo recorded consolidated revenues of € 17.8 billion, new orders for € 20.9 billion, and invested € 2.5 billion in R&D; activities. Innovation, continuous research, digital industry and sustainability are the pillars of its business in the world.
Expert tutors in their sector will follow you, allowing you to deepen the theoretical part and develop your thesis, preparing you in the best way for future professional challenges.
The topics proposed for theses to be carried out in Leonardo embrace a vast spectrum of technological, research and innovation areas: from Artificial Intelligence to High-Performance Computing, from Cyber Security to Materials Engineering, passing through the aerospace sectors. You will be able to explore the most avant-garde areas of your field of study, with creativity and spirit of innovation.
To support you during this experience, which will last a maximum of six months, an expense reimbursement is also provided.
We are looking for n.
1 young student to be included in an internship with the aim of developing their degree thesis on the topic of "Interoperability Standards" at the Turin Corso Francia site.
The activity will involve the development of a Use Case in the aeronautical field aimed at applying standards and operational processes for the digital exchange of data along the entire product life cycle. The activity will focus on the IPS S-Series suite of AIA-ASD and its integration, in terms of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), with other families of international standards (e.g. STEP-ISO 10303 APs, LOTAR).
The project involves the analysis of the most recent aeronautical standards dedicated to data management and exchange in the context of Integrated Product Support, and the definition of an end-to-end use case: from data reception, to its analysis, up to guaranteeing its continuous updating over time.
The entire flow will be developed by simulating information exchanges with stakeholders who adopt different standards for data management.
The challenges to be faced during the journey will be the following:
- Participation in International Collaboration and Partnership Programs, in which Leonardo may act as Prime Contractor, Workshare Partner, Major Sub-contractor, Equipment Supplier / OEM etc.;
- Development and maintenance of products with an increasingly extended life cycle (even beyond 40 years), from "Concept Design" to "In-Service Support", up to "Disposal";
- Interaction between numerous "stakeholders" (military and civilian Clients, integrators of Weapon Systems, multi-level Supply Chain, Agencies and external Partners, etc.), each of whom requires to receive and exchange consistent data and information, throughout the product life cycle;
- Increasingly "demanding" customer requirements, with stringent budget constraints.
In this context, the ability to develop, characterize and integrate different "Data Models", addressing and resolving "Interoperability" issues between Systems, in an often "Multi-national" and "Multi-domain" operating environment, is fundamental for digitally exchanging data / information relating to Products and Services, throughout their life cycle,
ensuring compliance with regulations and respect for security requirements and protection of intellectual property of information.
The main activities will concern:
- Analysis of aeronautical standards dedicated to data management and exchange in the context of Integrated Product Support;
- Study of current processes and tools currently in use at Leonardo, identifying any "gaps" compared to the state of the art and, consequently, defining areas for improvement;
- Definition of an "end-to-end" use case, both in terms of process, and related methodologies and tools: data generation, transmission, conversion, reception, integration, transformation, analysis, updating over time etc.;
- Development of a simulation of the data flow related to the "end-to-end" use case;
- Analysis of IT tools available at Leonardo and/or on the market in order to provide recommendations on their adoption and use;
- Interaction with Logistic Engineering teams and potentially with other Leonardo Units, in order to develop a shared vision on the new processes and tools to be adopted;
- Drafting of technical documentation and guidelines for the adoption of new methodologies.
Educational qualification: Master's Degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Management Engineering.
Seniority: Junior
Technical knowledge and skills:
- Ability to analyze technical-engineering documentation.
Behavioral skills:
- Strong problem-solving skills and results orientation;
- Attitude to teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration;
- Autonomy and proactivity in carrying out assigned activities;
- Ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines.
Language skills:
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English (B1 or higher).
IT knowledge:
- Good knowledge of the office package;
- Knowledge of xml, UML and SysML languages is welcome.
How does the selection process work?
Following the collection of applications, the CVs most in line with the required requirements are evaluated and identified.
Selected candidates will have an introductory interview with the Human Resources team and with the Business, where technical issues, motivation and personal aptitudes will be explored.
At the end of the process, the person receives feedback, both in case of a positive and negative outcome.
We look forward to your application.
By collaborating with us you will constantly compare yourself with the challenges of high technology, increase your skills and build a professional career of excellence.
