Founder Associate
Milan · Full-time, on-site · Italian required
Why Livia exists
Italians have put everything into their homes: the savings of two generations, their identity, their children's future. No country loves the home more. And no country administers it worse.
Most of us live in a condominium. You can track a €10 pizza in real time on your phone, but your building's €200,000 budget disappears once a year into an unreadable PDF. You call, and nobody answers. The leak becomes a stain, and the stain becomes a dispute. In the end, nobody is accountable.
The real monopolist in this market isn't any administrator. It's resignation: "tanto è così." Livia exists to revoke this mandate.
What we're building
Livia is building the operating system for residential living, and we are running it ourselves.
We don't sell software to administrators. We are the administrator, and we build the technology that powers us from the ground up. That lets us make promises no one else in the market makes: every euro visible in real time, no kickbacks from contractors, an answer within one hour on emergencies, and a full refund if a building isn't satisfied in the first year.
Underneath, we're building something harder to see: the deepest context layer on Italian buildings. Every repair request, contractor job, assembly decision, and resident conversation becomes structured knowledge. When a pipe leaks, our system knows which pipes are in the wall and which plumber last worked on them. The better the context, the better the AI; the better the AI, the more buildings run proactively rather than reactively. That compounding context is our moat, and it's why we're rebuilding the data architecture from scratch instead of bolting AI onto legacy tools, as incumbents are now trying to do.
But property management is a trust business, and AI can't take responsibility. So our administrators become what they should always have been: dedicated people who know their buildings, run assemblies well, and put their name on every decision, while software handles the groundwork.
We grow by integrating established administration firms. We welcome their teams and expertise and give them better processes and tools. The best administrators in Milan will be with us.
We're backed by Italian Founders Fund, Vento, 2100, and leading Italian families and angels. The market has thousands of fragmented firms and no reference company yet. We intend to become the alternative and fix the world's oldest asset class.
The Role
As Founder Associate, you'll work directly with our founders, Alessandro and Matthias, on whatever matters most right now. Each problem is yours to take on, understand, solve, and hand over in working order, running without you.
You can't list everything a Founder Associate does, because you might be asked to help on almost anything. The role shapes itself around your strengths and is designed for someone who wants to lead a part of Livia, or one day found a company of their own.
How We Work
Livia is not a typical Italian company, and this is not a typical Italian job.
We're a team of internationals and Italians who left,
built careers at some of the world's fastest-growing startups and unicorns, and came back. We brought that playbook home: high standards, fast decisions, radical ownership, and an intensity that doesn't exist in Italy.
We believe Milan can become a startup ecosystem that rivals London, Paris, or Berlin, and we intend to help build it. That means proving that a world-class company can be built here, with homegrown and international talent, in one of the most traditional industries in the country.
Here's what that looks like day to day:
- We move fast. Decisions take days, not months. What you propose on Monday can be live the same day.
- We hold a high bar. We expect excellent work, and we tell each other directly when something falls short, including the founders.
- We own outcomes, not tasks. "I did my part" isn't the finish line; the problem solved is.
- We work hard, on purpose. Building a category-defining company takes real commitment, especially in these early years. We protect what matters (health, rest, the people you love), but we won't pretend this is an easy job.
We're looking for people who want to do their life's work. If that's not you right now, that's completely fine. It just means Livia isn't the right place for you.
What You'll Work On
Acquisitions and integration. Source and evaluate administration firms, build valuation models, run due diligence, negotiate alongside the founders, and lead the transition of buildings, teams, and data onto Livia.
Operations and process. Design the workflows that make quality consistent across every building: who does what, by when, with what outcome. Find what breaks at 500 buildings before we reach 50.000.
Product, data, and AI. Work with engineering on the context layer and the tools our administrators use daily. Map real workflows, spot what can be automated, and test new features with residents and administrators.
Growth. Open new channels to win buildings, build partnerships with contractors, insurers, banks, and service providers, and turn happy residents into our best sales force.
Finance and governance. Prepare board materials, build the models behind key decisions, and support fundraising and investor relations.
Talent and culture. Help find and hire the people who will build Livia with us, including the next Founder Associates.
Examples of what you might own in your first months
- Leading due diligence and integration for an administration firm joining Livia, from data room to the first assembly under our name
- Redesigning how resident requests flow through the company so every one has a name and a deadline
- Building the model that tells us which firms to approach next, then reaching out to them
- Building a vetted contractor network in a new part of Milan and defining how we rate every job
- Defining with engineering how a building's history is structured, so the AI can actually use it
- Preparing the materials and analysis for our next fundraising round
Who We're Looking For
- Analytical sense and critical thinking. Much of the work is research and analysis. You frame the right questions, break problems down objectively, and simulate outcomes before acting.
- Business and product sense. You'll think at company level on topics with cross-cutting impact. You understand what makes a business great (product, commercial, brand) and make sound decisions under ambiguity.
- Execution and orchestration. Given the scope and pace, you move people toward an outcome, starting with yourself. You're as comfortable at a building assembly as in a spreadsheet.
- Versatility. You switch between an acquisition, a contractor dispute, and a data model in the same week, with the same quality.
- Autonomy and precision. You carry projects from start to finish with minimal supervision, and the details are right. In our business, a wrong number in an account breaks trust.
- Clear communication. You'll work with founders, administrators, residents, sellers, and contractors. Sharp writing, explicit asks, and real deadlines are essential.
- Going the extra mile. You deliver fast and well, and you also propose initiatives, go beyond the assigned task when needed, and anticipate what's coming.
- Growth mindset. You ask for feedback, take it well, and learn quickly.
Language. Fluent Italian and English, spoken and written.
Technical aptitude. AI is core to how we work, so we expect you to use it daily.
We welcome candidates from business, economics, engineering, law, mathematics, and data science, whether you spent 1–4 years in consulting, banking, private equity, or a fast-growing startup, or built a project or company of your own. Degrees matter to an extent, but if you've built something, we'd love to hear from you.
What We Offer
- Competitive Salary growing with your responsibility
- Equity for everyone: you become a co-owner, so the value you build is yours too
- Full access: to the numbers, the decisions, and the rooms where things happen
- Real ownership from month one, and a short, concrete path to leading a part of Livia
- Flexible vacation and working hours
- Learning: free books and a budget for courses and conferences, as an attendee or speaker
- Wellbeing: a budget for therapy, if and when you need it
- Daily meal vouchers and a generous transport allowance
- €500 premio if you move within a 20-minute walk of the office
We hire people, not roles
If this excites you but you don't tick every box, apply anyway.
Hiring Process
- Apply: just your CV and two lines about yourself
- Intro call with the team (~30 min)
- Case: prepare a real Livia problem and discuss it with us
- Meet the team at our office in Milan
- Trial days: three paid days with us to work on your own project end-to-end
- Offer and welcome
We aim to complete the process within 2 weeks.
This role is for people who want their work to matter. If that's you, we'd love to meet you.
