This is far more than a traditional payroll position.

As one of the hotel's founding team members, you will play a critical role in establishing the payroll function from the ground up—implementing systems, developing processes, ensuring legislative compliance and partnering with Finance and People Operations to create a payroll operation that is accurate, efficient and scalable before the hotel opens its doors. The role reports to the Director of Finance and is responsible for compliant payroll processing, payroll controls, statutory reporting and daily cash reconciliations.

About the Role

Working as part of our pre-opening Finance team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing payroll processes that support a world-class luxury operation while ensuring full compliance with Italian legislation and company standards.

You'll work closely with our external payroll provider, People Operations and operational leaders to establish best practice from day one.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading the implementation and setup of the hotel's payroll systems and payroll processes prior to opening.
- Managing the end-to-end monthly payroll process, ensuring salaries, overtime, holiday pay, bonuses, service charge/tronc and statutory deductions are processed accurately and on time.
- Ensuring compliance with Italian payroll legislation, tax, pension and statutory reporting obligations.
- Developing robust payroll controls, audit trails and reporting processes.
- Producing payroll analysis including labour costs, headcount, overtime and forecasting information.
- Supporting payroll budgeting and labour planning.
- Managing daily cash reconciliation, house banks,



petty cash and overs & shorts reporting.
- Partnering closely with Finance, People Operations and department leaders to ensure accurate employee and payroll records.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys building rather than maintaining.

You will be an experienced Payroll professional who thrives in a pre-opening or start-up environment and enjoys creating systems, processes and structure from the ground up.

You will bring:

- Previous payroll experience within the Italian hospitality industry, ideally in a luxury or high-volume environment.
- Demonstrated experience establishing or implementing payroll systems and processes, preferably within a hotel pre-opening, new business or systems implementation environment.
- A comprehensive understanding of Italian payroll legislation, employment law, taxation, pension obligations and payroll compliance.
- Strong financial acumen with excellent reconciliation and analytical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with hotel finance systems.
- Experience working collaboratively across Finance, People Operations and operational departments.
- Experience with Workday would be advantageous, although not essential. Full training can be provided for candidates with strong payroll expertise and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
