The position is permanent and the preferred location is inTrieste (IT), but also Helsinki, Turku and Vaasa (FI)are possible locations.What you will be doing Wärtsilä Global Logistics Services (WGLS) is responsible for managing the end-to-end flow of Wärtsilä spare parts. Data plays a central role in how we run and improve our operations, and expectations from the business are shifting: users increasingly ask for faster answers, more proactive insights and lighter, more interactive ways to work with data.
At the same time, AI has matured enough to make things like natural-language querying, automated analyses and conversational data agents realistic in daily operations. We are now looking for an AI Data Analyst to help us take this next step.In this position, you will focus on turning WGLS data into more advanced analyses and AI-supported tools that directly help operations. You will work across the full data lifecycle — from understanding what the business needs, to preparing and modelling data, to delivering solutions in the form of analyses, reports or conversational agents.As AI Data Analyst, your work will focus on these responsibilities: Develop advanced analyses on WGLS dataBuild conversational agents on top of our data that operational users can use directly to get answers in natural languageCreate solutions that allow users to query both structured data and logistics documents (such as compliance declarations, supplier documents, contracts, incoterms and carrier tariffs) in natural languageCollect requirements from stakeholders and deliver the right solutions, whether as an analysis, a report, a dashboard or a conversational toolExtract, transform and prepare data from different source systems as neededDevelop and maintain reports and visualizations where they are the best fit for the use caseContribute to continuous improvement of our reporting and data practices, and to the transition of our data foundations towards AI-ready ways of workingSupport WGLS users in adopting AI-based analytics tools safely and effectivelyTo be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
Good command in SQL and experience working with data from different source systemsProgramming experience in Python for data workPractical experience applying AI / Large Language Models to data-related use cases (e.g. natural-language querying, retrieval-augmented generation, automated analysis)Hands-on experience creating reports and visualizations, mainly with Microsoft Power BIKnowledge of Databricks or other data platformsUnderstanding of supply chain or logistics processes, together with a genuine interest in improving them and creating value for the businessProactive, analytical and solution-oriented mindset, with a can-do attitudeGood problem-solving skills and ability to learn efficientlyGood communication, collaboration and presentation skillsEagerness to use data end-to-end to deliver solutionsAn ideal candidate will have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in a relevant field of study (technical, computer science, data/AI, statistics, commercial etc.) or similar practical experience.The annual salary range for Italy for this role is 35.000 EUR – 55.000 EUR in accordance with the salary provisions in the National Collective Labor Agreement for workers in the metalworking and plant installation industry (CCNL Metalmeccanico).
