ph3Job Description /h3pThe bEngineer (m/f/i) - Wire Cable /b will manage projects related to New Work Certification, Performance Testing, and Follow-Up Services for Engineered Materials, with a primary focus on the wire and cable industry. This position involves frequent customer interaction via email, Microsoft Teams, and phone, requiring strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. /ppThe candidate must work independently, prioritize projects based on customer timelines, and support the sales team in preparing quotes. Additional responsibilities include resolving non-conformances identified during follow-up sample testing under UL’s mark integrity program and contributing to special projects that support technical and professional development. /ppLocation: bCarugate /b (Milan) / Italy /ppWork arrangement: bhybrid /b( 3 days office / 2 days home office) /ph3Responsibilities /h3ulliDetermines project scope, develops a preliminary plan of investigation, and determines project specifications such as cost, time, and sample requirements by analyzing client input, available supplemental data, and product construction. /liliProjects may include travel to conduct or witness tests at client sites. Initiates communication with clients to promote and explain the benefits of new and existing services. /liliFollows up on contacts from clients. /liliCommunicates with clients to discuss technical issues, explain UL procedures and requirements, convey project cost, and negotiate completion date and sample requirements. /liliActs to address client concerns and to resolve client issues. /liliProvides technical assistance to clients in reference to product inspection and follow-up services. Establishes appropriate test programs by reviewing files and manufacturer's information, examining samples, and applying UL requirements. /liliIs familiar with applicable standards, company manuals and appropriate technical literature. /liliExamines samples for compliance with UL requirements and notifies client of any areas in which the product is not in compliance or of any changes in project scope or specifications. /liliCoordinates laboratory activities by preparing data sheets and instructions to technicians, scheduling and reviewing work of laboratory technicians and engineering assistants and establishing completion dates.



/liliCoordinates administrative aspects of project management. /liliMay serve as Project Handler of record and/or Reviewer of record as assigned. /liliCommunicates project status and results to clients through frequent contact and by preparing reports. /liliPrepares Follow-Up Service Procedures and information pages. /liliIntegrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. /liliResolves engineering issues associated with Variation Notices by analyzing and reporting on the acceptability of the variations. /liliAssists in the development of UL requirements. /liliAssists in developing special test methods and test equipment. /liliAnalyzes test program for adequacy and sequence. /liliMay coordinate and/or perform File Reviews, as directed. /liliMay represent UL at industry related functions such as seminars and trade shown. Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices. /liliPerforms other duties as directed. /li /ulh3Qualifications /h3ulliBachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Electrical Electronics or Materials Engineering or related field. /liliAny relevant work experience in Wire Cable field is considered a plus /liliAny relevant work experience in CPR scheme is considered a plus /liliStrong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. /liliAbility to work independently and manage multiple projects effectively. /liliFamiliarity with UL, IEC, and other international standards for Wire Cables is preferred. /liliFluent in English with the ability to write technical reports. The annual salary range for this position is EUR 29.000 - 38.000 gross, determined by numerous factors, including knowledge, skills, and experience. This position also offers an annual premio of up to 5% of annual salary.
