Overview In this role, you define structural solutions for space mission vehicles using metallic and composite materials. You analyze requirements at the structure subsystem level and translate them into design definitions. You will select materials, processes and mechanical parts to achieve mass-efficient, launch-ready structures, supported by FEM analyses and test articles. You will contribute to the structural development process and guide junior engineers, within a cross-functional space program.
Responsabilità
Design spacecraft structures for modules and satellites using aerospace materials
Define and size structural parts and interfaces via hand calculations or preliminary FEM
Select materials and surface treatments; define tolerances
Review CAD models and drawings
Perform FEM analyses using FEMAP, Patran, Hypermesh; static and normal mode analysis with Nastran
Support development plans for mechanical aspects and instrumentation testing
Prepare and review design/analysis reports and mechanical testing plans
Assist with static/dynamic testing preparation and evaluation
Requisiti fondamentali
Mechanical Engineering knowledge
Knowledge of metallic and non-metallic materials and processes
Familiarity with aerospace design and analysis methods and manuals (Bruhn, Roark)
CAD tools (CATIA) and manufacturing processes
Reading manufacturing drawings
Proficiency with Windows Office
Knowledge of Nastran
Knowledge of FEM pre-post processors (Hyperworks, Femap, Patran)
Coaching and mentoring of junior resources
Team collaboration across engineering disciplines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
